Hi all, for my entry I have chosen a Lightning of 111 Sqn at RAF Wattisham in October of 1963. The connection is I served on 111 Sqn at RAF Leuchars in the 1990's and this is what they were flying the year I was born. I have chosen the Airfix F1/F1A kit in 1/48. It is a big box Also going to be a bit bigger than I thought it would be. That's an A3 mat. But not as many pieces as I thought. I intend to build out of the box, apart from the appropriate decals, kindly offered by Paul J, thank you very much mate. Cheers Kev

Hi I have entered the year you were born GB and have been unsuccessfully searching for 111 Sqn decals for a Airfix 1/48 Lightning F1. The kit A09179 has markings for 56 sqn 74 sqn and Lightning training sqn. Willing to swap these for some 111 Sqn decals or purchase outright. I know that Flightpath produced the following set but have not been able to track a set down. RAF Lightning F.3 Decal Sheet 23, 56, 74 & 111 Sqn Flightpath - Nr. 1/48 - 1:48 Any suggestions greatfully received Cheers Kev

Another old kit that needs no introduction, the Airfix Lightning. One of the original production run but from the tail end of it I suspect as there was a lot of flash and warpage. I used as few of the original decals as possible as they looked well dodgy, fortunately I had some left over from the more recent issue. I also had some left over parts from the recent version and the improvement in quality of moulding and plastic was remarkable; I used as many of the new bits as possible. The undercarriage was missing some key parts so I pinched a stand from elsewhere.

I'm posting this for my friend Paul, he is having issues getting on line. "The kit seat and main decals were replaced with aftermarket items. The ladder was scratch built. It does look a bit industrial but I hope it just adds a little interest to the finished model.Thank you,Canberra Kid,for your computing skills once again in setting this post up for me.Happy Modelling to all the Viewers."
