Couple of months ago I have launched an A-12 Oxcart build based on 1:72 Italeri/Testors kit. Although I did significant progress on the kitbash I was not quite happy with never ending sanding/filling process which you can follow in below thread: After getting my 3D resin printer as birthday gift from my wife and daughters I have decided to print first the kit replacement parts. But of course I need to have the digital models to print out. Therefore I have started to search best reference drawings to be used in 3D modelling. Also I have imported my own 3 view drawings to CAD. This will be very challenging project and at the end I hope the result will worth all the efforts 🤔 By the way, I did not give up A-12 kitbash. It continues in parallel 😁 I hope you will enjoy this adventure and share your comments about the progress. Serkan- 531 replies

Hi all, Here is another build of Oxcart/Blackbird series: A-12B "Titanium Goose" based on 1:48 Italeri/Testors kit. I had built this kit 30 years ago but during some house moves (one of them was international) as many of my other models this bird was also heavily damaged. I decided to recover this model 2 years ago and applied the black primer to complete the build. But after the announcement of 1:48 Revell Blackbird kit release this projects was suspended till today. As many of you I had pre-ordered my Revell sample too and this new kit has arrived in beginning of December. Recently @Alan P has started a work in progress topic here: I follow this topic with great interest and it helps a lot to see the areas/parts that need to be improved. I decided to launch here this topic to share the results using the 3D printed parts developed in my another topic: In this topic I will convert 1:48 Italeri/Testors SR-71A/B "Blackbird" model into A-12B "Titanium Goose". It will be also a good test bench to check how all these printed parts look like in 1:48 scale and if they fit the kit... I wish you all merry Xmas. Serkan

During Ced's recent MD-21 build I have decided to build some Blackbird versions using the kits in my stash. But I was not aware that all available models have major issues to be corrected to build a real Blackbird (whatever the version is). After spending couple of weeks for searching the reference materials (pictures and drawings) I have decided to go with my own drawings based on available pictures and my engineering judgements. Here I would like to share my findings as well as the pictures of my drawings and comparison results. Of course all feedback and comments are very important to build each of these legendary aircrafts as accurate as possible. Serkan

Here's my current project. A Rareplanes A-12 vac form in 1/72. I figured I should start posting. Reference is limited on this plane. I found one cutaway drawing from 193? and afew others. I decided to be different and make it Chinese air force. This is also my first vac form kit, not much different than any other except for the initial prepping of parts. I replaced the vac form engine with a resin R-1830 from Quickboost. I'm putting on all the harnesses(since it don't have any) which isn't easy. I have to also make the exhaust collector. The cockpit parts are all scratchbuilt. The control surfaces were all cut off and flaps were dropped. Strangely the tail wheel was only made on one side so I had to find a full wheel. image upload no size limit image upload no size limit
