  3. Just realised that 2017 was my 1st full year on BM so a catch up. More models than I realised - a period off work then retirement meant I apparently cracked through quite a few Everything in 1/72 Matchbox Viggen Airfix Spitfire Revell Lancaster Revell Sea Vixen and an Airfix Vampire Airfix Buccaneer Matchbox Phantom Airfix bf-109 Airfix He-111 Spares box random assortment turned into an aerodynamically unlikely what-if Airfix Hurricane Airfix Hunter Hobbyboss F-5 Airfix Javelin Airfix Sea King & RNLI pair with a base Pair of Thunderbolts (Revell & Academy)
  4. Hi folks, It's 2018 here in New Zealand, so this is coming in at the metaphorical eleventh hour, but here are my finished things from 2017. Not a terrible year but a bit short on variety in places (I didn't manage any aircraft or armour for the first time in ages!) I started with this Cosmo Zero, the Cosmo Falcon is still in a mix of primer and basecoats which is a little embarrassing... Bandai 1/72 kit from Space Battleship Yamato 2199. Also Bandai is this tiny box-scale (1/8000?) kit of the Elysion carrier from the most recent Macross series: I started building and painting some of the nifty scenery from Games Workshop's Shadow War set: As well as one of the (fairly old) Orks as a test model. I started the rest of the squad but the access behind weapons etc. was really hard and I got a bit fed up with them, so they're not done yet... I also finished this Juggernaught of Khorne, although I haven't done the rider yet so it's a bit dodgy sneaking it in here... The base is temp too. Maybe my favourite model of the year is Bemular - he's sculpted from Super Sculpey and hot glue as a slightly overdone base for Bandai's Science Patrol VTOL. That was almost it for "proper" models as I got really into painting the new Death Guard models from Games Workshop. So far I've done a couple of plague marines and almost a squad of Poxwalker zombies. I'm too slow to paint armies really... They make a fun photography project though: Another Bandai diversion was the TIE Striker from Rogue One, I've made some of the other bits too but they aren't all done yet. although the hover-or-not tanks are pretty cool: The last things I finished in 2017 were the Stormcast Eternals from Shadespire - they took just a week to paint and are quite satisfyingly chunky models. On the almost-finished pile is this Zoid kit from Kotobukiya, which needs a pilot painting and a few scenic bits on top of the rock, but is otherwise done. I'm currently trying to finish off a super-secret project, more news soon, and I've picked up the Sandworm to do a bit more on over the holidays. Have a great 2018! Cheers and thanks for looking, Will
  5. Its been a difficult year, with various elements of "Real Life" in the form of work, family and health interfering badly with modelling. But here we are at the end of the year, all is well in "Real Life" and although I don't think it has been my best modelling year by far, under the circumstances I am quite pleased with my output: The year started ambitiously as I scratch converted a 1/72 James Bond Italeri AW-1010 into a Royal Navy HC3A: Then the somewhat smaller 1/72 Italeri Bell Sioux appeared in Royal Marines markings: Having flown for years on the same old Airbuses and Boeings, a trip to Marseilles last year introduced me to a new and rather racy looking airliner which i just had to build, the Embraer E series, in this case the 1:144 Revell issue. And as a quick build, the Airfix 1/72 Tornado F-3 in its easy build incarnation scrubbed up nicely: The airliner bug had bitten though, so a 1:144 Airfix Trident joined the pack: Followed by the a somewhat modified Hobbyboss Lynx to reflect the retirement of the HMA.8 from RN service this year: June saw an ancient FROG Hasegawa Thunderchief emerge in Vietnam colours: Quickly followed by a Hasegawa Phantom, also from the Vietnam era: July saw my main building project move a big step forward (of which more later), celebrated by my first F-35 Kit (Fujimi 1/72) in RN markings: Then the airliner bug hit again with an Airfix 1:144 BAC 1-11: August and September were manic months, with little time for anything other than work, but with my main buillding project in Scapa Flow, marking 100 yrs since Sqn Lt Cdr Dunning made the world's first first landing on a ship, I squeezed out an Airfix 1/72 Camel to mark the occasion. Always a refuge when things are busy, the 1/72 Trumpeter LAV-25 gave me a quick AFV build, my first for many years: And because building something new in the time I had to spare was out of the question, I resorted to a repaint of an older model, a Royal Navy FOST Dauphin using the 1/72 Matchbox/Revell kit: And then an old 1/72 KP Su-7 FITTER, with an ICM Zil 157 truck to refuel it Followed by a rather difficult 1/72 FROG (Hasegawa) A-4K Skyhawk which had some critical parts missing: ...and finally, on the 7th December 2017 my main building project, the one that has dominated my life for the last 6 years, was handed over to its new owners. Maybe next year there will now be a little more time for modelling - or maybe not - we do have a second one to build!
