  1. Just completed this today, my first completed kit of 2022 with another couple of kits following on behind. As seen in the "F/A-18 STGB Part 2" group build. Canadian Air Force CF-18 439.Sqn Tiger Meet 1991/2 Academy 1/72 F/A-18A Hornet (Blue Angels kit) entirely out of the box. Leading Edge decal set 72.037 " CAF CF-18 439.Sqn Tiger Meet Special from 1991/92 Vallejo, Ammo Mig wash & custom mix matt finish. A brief work in progress here. Martin
  2. My latest build is a 1/72 Academy P-40N built as "Miss Frances III" 10AF 80FG 89FS based out of Nagaghuli, Assam, India - The Burma Banshees. Despite it's performance limitations the P-40N held its own in Africa and Asia. I have always liked the skull head nose art of the Burma Banshees. My previous Hasegawa build fell and broke and I decided to build the Academy kit this time around and hope to make a few more of these. Having now built the Hasegawa P-40N and the Special Hobby P-40F (which was surprisingly lacking), I found the Academy kit far better to build. I am not sure dimensionally which is more accurate but the Academy wins in my book for how well the parts went together. The instructions funnily leave out a part which is on the sprue but I did add it. The carpet monster got the pitot tube and till I can find it a metal pin will hold the fort. Paints are all Tamiya (Olive Drab and Neutral Grey) though I have started getting more partial to Vallejo Air. I gave it a Tamiya wash before sealing with dull coat. The decals have been cobbled together from three different sheets but the differences are too subtle to make out - at least for me. Thank you for stopping by. Comments are always welcome and makes one get better at the hobby 🤠 Thank you for looking!
  3. In the wonderful book "Spitfires in the Sun" I found a picture of RN 193 which intrigued me. High back Mk XIVc Spitfires were rare in the far east as it was and RN 193 not only served with No 136 Squadron RAF, but was then passed on to No. 2 (India) Group Command Flight where it served out it's life. The kit is Academy's 1/72 Spitfire XIVc. It is seemingly straight forward to build but requires some TLC, especially with the ventral wing joints and wheels. The cockpit door's dimensions seem a little compressed but I let it be since I had already decided to make an open canopy version. I used Tamiya for paints, wash and clear coat. Pardon the bad cell phone pictures. I might update this later in the week with better pictures. Thank you for looking!
  4. Hello everyone Straight from the P-47 Thunderbolt group build. This is the 1/72 Academy P-47D Razorback. It represents a Thunderbolt from the 356th Fg. 8th air force. Its is also part of a bigger project of mine. I am building a diorama of the weekly planning meeting of the 8th Fighter command. I have 3 of 15 builds completed so far. Without further talk I present “4-F”. The following photo’s are the 3 completed builds so far. The center is Academy’s 1/72 mustang from the 4th Fg., the upper left is the Airfix 1/72 mustang 20th Fg., and the P-47D is this build. Here is a link to the build if you are interested ? Please feel free to Question, comment, or joke ? Dennis
