  1. The music in this case is provided by a Packard Merlin engine in a P-51. I will be using ICM’s 1/48 P-51D to build a Mustang flown by the Swiss Airforce. Whilst researching the subject I came across this website which I will be using for my references. https://swissmustangs.ch Markings came from a aftermarket sheet from LF Models
  2. This is my final build of this abysmal year of 2020!!!! Having built the ICM 1/48 Do215 & Do17Z-10 with hopefully reasonable results I decided to venture forward with ICM's Heinkel He111H-3. So armed with the Eduard etched sets for the undercarriage bays and cockpit, the Brassin wheels, an older Aeromaster decal sheet for the He111 and references the build commenced. I decided at an early stage to build a He111 from KG,100 partly because I like the badge and I also wanted a 'blackwashed' under-surface machine. I decided not to purchase the etched sets available for the bomb bay or radio compartment as these areas are not that visible when the fuselage halves are joined. So references and a little scratch detailing were sufficient for me. The build was pretty straight forward although by not ( as is usual for me) following the instruction sequence I did cause myself some problems which thankfully were overcome. The glazing does require great care in assembly to avoid clouding them when gluing and to avoid unsightly seams. I added the scratch made aerials carried by these aircraft and also replaced the under fuselage aerial. I used AK Real Colours paints over Vallejo black primer, in order to show the overpainted markings the upper surfaces were sprayed first, then gloss varnished. I applied the decals, an assortment of the kit and Aeromaster decals. The uppersurfaces were matt varnished, I then masked off the and sprayed the undersurfaces and Balkankreuze plus codes with AK Real Colours NATO Black allowing the markings to show through. I gave the black a coat of Mig Lucky Ultra Matt varnish as the original paint was reported as being an extremely matt finish. Panel washes were added and some weathering, which I tend to keep to a minimum were added. The machine I chose to model was from 2./KG.100 coded 6N+EK, Vannes, France, Sept. 1940 :- A couple of errors I noticed 1. I forgot to add the aerial mast under the fuselage next to the gondola. 2. The starboard undercarriage is not vertical but slightly canted to one side, something I will need to fix!!!! Apologies for photo quality not some of my best 😣. Well I'm calling this my final build of this awful year of 2020. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and hopefully a much better New Year!! 🎄 Cheers Andy
  3. Hello Dears; Here I'm again, sporadic RFI this year... So, after India, let's go pay a visit to @giemme and @Massimo... It is also the opening of my 112nd Sqdn serie... There will be more Sharkmouth in the future... Well, here we are in Italy... Paint scheme and decals are from the very good Eduard Royal box. Depicting KH774, flown by Fl/Lt Ellis Blanchford, 112th was a part of N°239 Wing at the time. The ICM kit is a copy of the Tamiya one, so far, I mixed parts of the 2 kits and the swap is not noticeable. This build came from my Pony frenesy, so I build 3 kits at the same time, I mean 3 P-51D kits at the same time... Will not speak here of my starting kit addiction... I completely reworked the internals, I based my work on the Eduard parts, this Eduard Mustang is more than a treat !! Nonetheless the ICM one is the first in RFI... Paints are Xtracrylics ones as usual... Some decals came from the very good sheet from Kitsworld !! Prop sticker, fuel filling caps and so on !! Very usefull and wortht the price !! Thanks to @tonyot for the tip about bombs ! These pics were so good that now, I feel envy to build a NMF 112th Mustang... I know, there's no cure for my lunacy... As one can see, the guns are replaced by syringe needles, I was so glad that I did the same on the other Mustangs, even the Eduard one... Well, feel free to comment and banter as usual !! Hoops !! I forget to weather the tailwheel... Let's say that the mechanics were damn good on these days... Sincerely. CC
  4. Hello Gents !! So, for the ones who know me.... DO NOT expect to peer into the end of the party for these women... Sorry @LorenSharp but... Do not expect either about this one.... But let's go to Hailakandi, India in 1943. Here's my first CBI theatre aircraft 1st Air commando. For the folks who will react about the weathering... I restrain myself on this one... See The thing that has annoyed me is the streaks on the exhaust smudge... I put the U/C before varnish for obtaining the right angle... The ICM kit is a dog of a kit, adjustment is nightmarish, now I added a lot of plastic in it Example, a bulkhead for the radiator... If you don't like the see through model, it's mandatory... interior has been improved and rectified too. Basically, the ICM is a copy of the Accurate kit. But they forget the U/C doors !! 🤬🤬 The Air commando specialize themselves in CAS mission. Saying that they operated in rough conditions is clearly an understatement. The payload is usual for them, fuel tanks given the range they have to cover... And the Bazookas for helping the Chindits... Bazookas were not liked by the pilots because it generate a great drag, but it has some badly needed punch ! Now, the belly of the dame... Paints were Xtracrylics ones Fuel tanks have been modified as per the pics, who clearly show a difference with the usual Mustangs fuel tanks ! Now on for the family pics. CC
  5. Hello Dears, Whatever the odd, I manage (at least) to finish this one ! I really liked the MiG 3 since she look like a racer Aircraft, very nice little beast ! Seem to have been efficient too, with people like Pokrishkin at the command ! BUT ! there is always a but ! The ICM kit is not easy at all, adjustments were ... Erm How can I say .. one better the question ! I tried to make my best, but it has been a Murphy's law build. Anything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong ! And those biiiiig arrows, what a pleasure ! I must confess that the kit has been really near to be test flyed !! I sweared a lot ! I used Vallejo color for the white, I'm not really convinced, must give these paints another try ! An eduard photo etched hjas been used since the interior was To be continued in a few minutes
