Here is my Pioneer 2 1:72 Sukhoi Su-15TM “Flagon F” which I built back in 2003. It represents Blue 09, of the IA-PVO, Baltic Fleet, USSR, in the 1980s. This was a very basic kit which required a lot of work along the joints due to poor fit of parts. I added details in the cockpit, the various intakes along the fuselage and the missing Sirena 3 rear warning probe in the tail. The incorrect "grills" in the intakes were filled and the warning decals were made up from spares. The undercarriage doors were thinned. The AA-3 Anab missiles came from the kit but the AA-8 Aphids came from the Dragon modern Soviet weapons set. All had their rear holes opened up. The pilot also came from the Dragon set. The main metallic finish was done with Tamiya AS-12 Bare Metal Silver spray can with the variations being achieved by dry-brushing other metallic paints. Despite all the work I remember being very pleased and satisfied with the project and was sorry I hadn't bought the two-seater when it was available back in the 1990s. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome Miguel

How does the A-model 1:72 Su-15TM compare with the old NPO VES kit ? ( for someone used to Italeri / Revell the VES kit was a nasty shock - soft plastic, giant sprues, bits that didn't fit ..... finished article now sitting on the 'shelves of shame' )
