  1. A Sophisticated War Machine Leopard 1 A3/A4 TOKYO, Oct. 11, 2013 – MENG has announced a new kit numbered TS-007 – the German main battle tank Leopard 1 A3/A4 in the 53rd All Japan Model & Hobby Show. Test shots and samples are displayed in the show, which means this TS-007 project is undergoing tests and it will be available pretty soon. Leopard 1 MBT features extraordinary reliability and excellent tactical mobility. It was a standard equipment of European troops and it served in more than 10 countries in the world. The Leopard 1 A3 incorporated all the improvements of the Leopard 1 A2 but with a new welded turret of spaced armor with a wedge-shaped gun mantlet. The turret rear stowage bin was incorporated into the contour of the turret. The loader's periscope was movable in both elevation and azimuth. The Leopard 1 A4 was fitted with the same turret as Leopard 1 A3, but had an integrated fire-control system which helped the tank attack distant targets more accurately. This TS-007 plastic model is 269.5mm in total length and 97mm in width. This kit consists of 471 plastic parts on 23 sprues and 10 PE parts on 2 PE frets. Periscopes and lights are provided with clear parts; all hatches can be modeled open or closed; armor protection for periscope and grilles for engine compartment can be precisely presented with PE parts; track links and one-piece TPE tracks are included; three options (German Leopard 1 A3/A4 or Greek Leopard 1 A3) are provided.
  2. Hi all, Please don't be too judge mental, but I thought I'd share my first attempt at one of the new tooling typhoons that Airfix have recently released. And what a fantastic kit it is, feel bad for not letting it go to someone who knows what they're doing a little better... Haha. But anyway, here she is! I made the starter kit version as that was the only one I could find(and still haven't seen a "normal" boxed kit since) at the Hendon model show. The paints were the ones complimentary with the kit, and in hindsight I wish that I had used the Revell acrylics that I'm used to but C'est la vie! The decals were great, hardly any silvering from them at all. Sadly for all of you I was too excited to get building and so didn't have time to stop, and take pictures in-between assembly stages, this kit was built in a night(and early morning, if you want to get technical) Here she is! The water splodges were sorted, one thing I shall do on the next one is cut the film on the decal so I don't get a mini tent on the side(under the "H") Enjoy All the best GuidoKM
  3. Looks like Trumpeter are really going to town on the Russian theme Box art is up on Armorama, no release date yet but i have a feeling that this will be good :-)
  4. Hi all, This isn't really a build thread of this kit, more of a place where I'll be posting things to look out for if you build this kit. Such as fit problems, ejector pin marks, stuff like that. I should also note that I will be building this model wheels up because of a lack of space, so I wont be commenting on those areas. Having started this kit today I haven't fitted anything really. Only the ends of the bomb bay roof. And being a brush painter it may take me a while. So the only thing in this post is ejector marks on the floor (The other side of the bomb bay) and on the right hand side of the fuselage. This picture shows the floor and there are five ejector marks, I feel these could easily be seen through the canopy if left untreated. These aren't the only ejector marks on the floor but I feel the only ones that would likely be seen. Also after opening the holes for the motor that is mounted in the bomb bay I refilled the holes on the floor side. This picture shows the righthand fuselage with three ejector marks, the one that concerns me is the one in the middle of the side panel, although in fairness the panel is flat enough for me not to amend it as a decal will cover it over. The other ejector marks I believe wont be seen, these are also present on the other fuselage half but again I feel they wont be seen. TTFN Ashley.
  5. Combo Pigment & Colour Sets Lifecolor Lifecolor are well known for their acrylic paint sets which provide all the colours you'll need for the subject covered. Well time moves on, and with new techniques coming to the fore, they have begun creating combination sets that contaion both the colours you'll need to paint the subject, and the pigments that you will need to complete the job. The first release of three sets is detailed below, and the new pigments have the prefix PG for ease of discrimination: Israeli Army This set is perfectly timed to coincide with all those Merkava kits that are coming out at present. It contains three base colours and three pigments as follows: Golan Dark Earth (PG101), Sinai Sand (PG101), Lebanon Dust (PG103), IDF Sandgrey 1 (UA901), IDF Sandgrey 2 (UA902), UDF Green (UA903) Tracks Painting and weathering realistic tracks can be a difficult task, but this set contains three base colours to paint your tracks, and three pigments to weather them up after. The addition of the Rubber colour is especially welcome, as it is a very nice brown grey that gives a good representation of the real thing. Reflecting Agent (PG110), Dry Dust (PG105), Damp Dust (PG106), Rubber Track (UA904), Intermediate Wear (UA905), Old Track (UA906) Rust Rust is another technique that takes some mastering, and this set is here to help. It contains the basic three shades of rust, which are then modulated by three pigment tones to break up the colour and add realism. There is no substitute for studying references to get rust effects right, and there are six photos on the boxtop that will give you a good start, although there are myriad photos available on the 'net to assist you. Eroding Burned Rust (PG107), Oxidation State (PG108), Weathering Marks (PG109), Burned Rust (UA907), Corroded Rust (908), Streaking Rust (UA909) Mud & Dust Mud and dust are found in large quantities on any vehicle that has been in-theatre for some time, despite the best efforts of crew, wind and rain, showing different colours and effects depending on conditions and terrain. A four-panel pictorial instruction is included on the rear of the box, along with captions giving extra information, which helps to make the process more clear. N.Europe Dry Mud (PG114), Red Dry Mud (PG115), S.Europe Dry Mud (PG116), N.Europe Dark Mud (UA913), Red Mud (UA914), S.Europe Mud (UA915) N.Europe Dust (PG111), E.Europe Dust (PG112), S.Europe Dust (PG113), N.Europe Dust (UA910), E.Europe Dust (UA911), S.Europe Dust (UA912) Lichen & Moss A set of four pigment powders and two fixers for your dioramas that are over-grown or unkempt. Sprout Green (POW01), Lush Plant (POW02), Fall Season (POW03), Rotten Plant (POW04), Gloss Lime Fixer (FF01), Gloss Muddy Fixer (FF02) Algae For wet & slimy areas of your models and dioramas. Luxuriant Green (POW05), Full-Blown Green (POW06), Blight Plant (POW07), Dried Plant (POW08), Gloss Dirty Green Fixer (FF03), Gloss Yellow Green Fixer (FF04) Burned Not strictly a Combo set, but as it includes pigment, it's here. Five burned colours and one ash pigment for burned out vehicles and buildings. Blackened Umber (UA758), Exhausted Umber (UA759), Rusted Umber (UA760), Burned Stains (UA761), Incinerated White (UA762), Ash (PG117) Conclusion Very helpful sets, especially for those that have yet to venture into the world of weathering and adding realism. careful painting and weathering should always be accompanied by reference to how the real items look, so study photos of the real thing before trying these techniques, and it will pay dividends. Look out for more sets soon. highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  6. Hi, with help from Mike, the other mods and the review team I have been working on getting a walkaround section here on Britmodeller. This will hopefully contain the sort of detail shots only modellers need. ie the left handed widget on the Blackburn Wurlitzer etc. We are aiming for Aircraft, helicopters, Tanks, Softskins, airliners, Ships, Subs, Weapons, Ejection seats, ground equipment. Basically anything of interest to the modeller. Guys & gals this section will only be as good as the info we can get and post up. If you would like to contribute then please let me know. many thanks Julien
