My first kit finished this year, almost in time for the 50th anniversary of the first F-16 flight - 1:72 F-16AM Fighting Falcon, no 1615, serial 61-630, 53rd Fighter Squadron "Warhawks", Romanian Air Force, Borcea AB 2023. This is an ex-USAF 83-1077 and ex-Portuguese 15134 aircraft, delivered to Romania in 2021 after refurbishing and repainting. I chose this camo just because I simply like it very much. It's also nice to see an old plane with all this modern equipment. Revell kit, CMK resin cockpit, Master metal Pitot tube, AOA probes and static dischargers, Hasegawa missiles, Eduard Sniper ATP and some scratch. Painted with Mr. Hobby C series paints. Decals are from ModelMaker set. Thanks for watching!

Hi. Tomorrow January 20 is the 50th anniversary of the F-16's first flight. And earlier this week the Slovak Airforce took delivery of their first F-16C/D Block 70 Since the start has more that 4.600 F-16 been built and it's operative in more than 25 countries I don't think it's a secret that I like the F-16 the same way others likes the Spitfire, Bf109, P-51 etc. And I plan to build at least one from every user/country. For 2024 I've planned to enter as many F-16 I can in the GB's I'll take part in. If my plan works out I'm looking on adding 6-7 new user to my collection. Hello, evryone! I bought the Italeri F-16 C/D Night Falcon kit by chance at a discount. I just wanted to assemble a model of a contemporary jet aircraft out of a box, carefully paint it and put it on a shelf. It would have turned out that way, unless the decal failed - it was completely worthless. Then I bought the another decal. But it turned out that the prototype on a new decal was from the early blocks and could not carry modern pods. Well, never mind: I decided to assemble the plane in the classic three-color gray camouflage carrying CBU and Sidewinders. A few words about the assembling the kit: the weakest point is the jointing it doesn't correspond to reality. I didn’t want to change things dramatically, so I corrected only some of the most outstanding places. The cockpit is given bare. Slightly improved it (instrument panels, pilot seats, canopy lifting mechanism, gun sight). The canopy covered with Tamiya smoke from inside. I modified the exhaust nozzle so that from a distance it looked like the one, and not like an empty bucket. ALL F-16 manufacturers (except Tamiya) produce a simplified air intake and cover it with a grid like a radiator. Therefore, I decided to depict something resembling a real air intake. I trimmed the stabilizers to match the prototype (early blocks). Cut out several antennas from a beer can. Improved the landing gear and niches simulating the electrical system, hydraulics, battery, gas cylinder, and spotlights (Elf). Static dischargers - fishing line. This is far better than a wire, since one often touches them during the construction and painting process. I made all the necessary formation lights. The aftermarket used: a PITOT tube (the Master kit also included the angle of attack indicators). As well as Hasegawa armament (bombs and missiles). Painting mostly Hobby Color acrylic - “bottom” FS36375, “top” FS 36118, but side surfaces FS 36270 from HATAKA. Nitro varnish (orange) NATAKA. Weathering and some highlights for a panel effect mainly with oil paints, watercolor pencils and AK wet effects fluid. Oil paints diluted with white spirit were applied by an airbrush freehand and through a stencil. Super Scale Decals. Stencils partially Printscale decal. Another 1/144 kit from Trumpeter which I previous completed the F-22A. F-16 has much less parts compared to the F-22A, partially because it comes with NO weapon. Much simpler in design of the kit. It has a 2-part cockpit, the ejection seat and the cockpit ! The panel lines are detailed in this scale but not deep enough. Covered the back of the seat with a thin plastic card as it might be seen after the build. Applied German grey on the inside of the fuselage and around the cockpit. Added other parts to the airframe - noted that most of them are in good fit except the nose cone does fit well but have a huge (in its scale) step between the front fuselage and the cone, need to sand it down. Test fit the canopy too, seems all good. Added a bit of color in the cockpit, dry brush enamel silver, and add a few of different color on the instrument panel and side panels. Also apply a layer of Gaia green color on the seat. Also fit a small piece of transparent green cut off from plastic file folder to make the HUD. Next, I cut a few very thin (less than 1mm) masking tape and make the harness, and brushed blue and silver. It is then time to close the canopy. Applied green stuff putty under fuselage where the wings joint and also in front of the canopy. After rounds of sanding, scribed the panel lines and installed pylons

Hot off my workbench is this 1/48 Tamiya Viper done as a Block 52 of the Republic of Singapore Air Force's 143 Squadron "Phoenix". I used the Thunderbird boxing as the basis for this build. Mainly built out-of-the-box with Fine Molds seatbelts and ScaleNutz decals as the only aftermarket used. To represent a RSAF bird, some details had to be scratch-built including the plate-mounted AIFF antennae, HMCS sensor on the canopy and GPS receiver on the spine. The model was painted primarily with Mr Color lacquers. Weathering was done with a mix of AK Interactive, Ammo by Mig and oil paints. I also played around with some new techniques to give it a more weathered appearance. Loadout depicted is typical for a peacetime intercept mission consisting of 2 AIM-120C AMRAAMs, 2 AIM-9M Sidewinders, 2 370 gallon wing tanks and a AN/AAQ-33 Sniper XR pod on the right cheek station. Greetings all, I have attached some pictures of my latest build. Out of the box including decals. My first OOB build since the 80's!!! A great build with only minor grumbling around the main landing gear extension struts. Im not sure why the exhaust nozzle looks white, its actually silver to the naked eye. Im considering adding stretched sprue static dischargers but not sure..... cheers

Anyhow I pressed on and this is the final result, on a more positive note I used Quinta Studios Interior set which really lifted the interior to the next level. I will be using them again for some of my better kits. As always critique and comments more than welcome.

Hi there Yesterday marked the final day of F-16’s in the Norwegian Airforce after 40 years of operation. The final mission was perfomed by a pair of F-16’s from the Bodø base. Major Yamos Yadlin prepares to launch his F-16A "107" to attack Saddam Hussein's nuclear reactor at Osirak nr. Baghdad, 7th June 1981. Hours later, as the reactor lay smoking after 14 x 2000lbs bombs had been dropped straight through the reactor dome, President Reagan commented: "Boys will be boys". Yadlin dropped the first two bombs to hit the reactor. Hasegawa 1/48 F-16 Israeli Air Force packaging, with plenty of aftermarket: Quickboost small tailplanes for early f-16As, Aeries seat, Eduard f-16 plus panels, KA Models exhaust nozzle, Quickboos early f-16 wheels, Aeromaster IDF f-16A/B decals, bombs from Hasegawa A set. My first try with Flory washes, which I really liked. Main colours are AK Sand and Dark Tan (slight;y oranged) and Tamiya Grey/Green (which looked closer to the contemporary photos than a more green, green colour). Manually dropped the flaps. Evening gents Okay, so I’m going to ask right away – @trickyrich can we have an extension please 🤣 Anyhow, this will be my humble contribution to this long awaited and highly anticipated Nordic II GB, which I will (likely) start and (hopefully) finish. I’ll be doing only the F-16, as I already did the Lynx for the first Nordic GB (a lovely kit by the way). Wanted to post some more pictures of the kit, but Pinterest has gone mad so I will have to find a new photo host first. There is obviously a story behind the decoration of the vertical stab of this aircraft, which I will get back to later. But as can be read on the top of the tail, this specific aircraft was used to support the F-35 JSF test campaign. Think I have the paints sorted, so actually there is no excuse for not getting started now. Thanks for following! Cheers Johnny b

I'm quite new here, I built a lot of models fairly badly as a kid but I am trying to build some nicer ones more slowly now I am old enough to have at least a degree of patience. So this is a WIP thread with a difference I think - it's a mostly clueless bodger looking to learn how to improve what they're doing as they go along. There will be no fancy aftermarket, no airbrushing (I don't have one), nor will there be absolute dedication to matching paint codes (cost and convenience/availability) and aerials to the nth degree. This is about improving my build quality to get up to a better base level of build. The model subject is the Revell F16MLU. Tools, techniques, products that I don't have/need to use all tips welcomed. Looks pretty on the box! TLDR tell me how to build that plane above better and what new tools and stuff to buy. 🙂

Back in the 1980s and as part of its modernisation efforts, the Republic of Singapore Air Force chose the General Dynamics F-16 to replace its fleet of aging Hawker Hunters. Under the Peace Carvin I FMS program, the United States sold a total of 8 F-16s (4 As and 4 Bs) to the RSAF. These aircraft were received by the RSAF and were initially based at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona where the Air Force sent a detachment of pilots and ground crew to train under the USAF. On 9 January 1990, these 8 Vipers arrived in Singapore and were inducted into 140 Squadron "Osprey". This is the Hasegawa F-16A kit built with HobbyDecal turned metal pitot and AoA probes. Decals came from Siam Scale but were not too good so I had to use some of the decals from the kit. The scheme here represents one of the jets as the arrived in Singapore with the old-style "yin-yang" roundel. This was quickly replaced with the modern "lion-head" roundel. Last year I picked up a group builds worth of F-16s on ebay. I first got an ESCI Viper just to get the ground crew set with it. Then a mixed bag of 2 more ESCI and one Monogram kit followed, so on with build. The first three became Dutch, Belgian and Norwegian Vipers earlier this year. Here with my previous Dutch F-16 and Academy Bentwaters Aggressor. But the fourth stayed in the box. My plan for the last one was to build a Weasel. Then I found that the decals I have are for a Spangdahlem F-16C, not the later Wild Weasel. I have a Spang F-4G Weasel to build in Euro One camo so the F-16 will sit nicely with her. So the plan is to convert the ESCI A model to a C, rescribe the panels and add the shark mouth decals. To my mind the shape is pretty good. So the aim is something like this When I built the others I tidied up the cockpit so this is what is in the box The rear stabilisers are coming off to be replaced by the scratch built Everdrenn sheets ones. They can then be angled upwards rather than the moulded on early A model ones. The tanks are from an Academy kit but I think I have ESCI ones too. And now toying with the idea of cutting off the slats. Flaps are already separate. And maybe the airbrakes too So let’s see what this one turns out like. Thanks for looking in

This will be my fourth 1/72 Viper - top 2 are Revell, the Sufa is from Kinetic. Well this is my first monster build of the year and hopefully a real Mojo stimulus build…..as the old modelling mojo has taken a bit of a hit recently…….though it hasn’t stopped me from growing the stash! I have wanted to build a F-16I Sufa for quite sometime, though I’m not sure what possessed me to for this monster! This isn’t the first time I’ve built a 1/32nd beast, around 40 years ago I built the Hasegawa version….which I still have packed away somewhere…… a little bit worse for wear! The box is huge and packed solid with lots of lovely plastic as well as some PE and brass bits. There is a choice of 4 schemes, well squadrons to choose from, which one I haven’t quite decided on yet. You even get a lovely large poster as well, which on the back of is the painting/decal guide, not the easiest to handle. ….. and yes there are extra AM bits to go with her of course! The main one is Zactomodels resin F-16 NSI “Small Mouth Intake”. This is a beautifully cast seem-less replacement intake for this model and will certainly save all the hassle of sorting out intake seems! With the cockpit I resisted the urge to replace it with resin but will add Quinta Studio’s gorgeous 3D decals , the first time I’ve used these in 1/32nd. The detailing on them is stunning, even the knobs on the side panels even have a tiny white position marker on them! 😍 The kit exhaust is quite nicely done but a replacement resin one will look much nicer. Though they did suffer a wee bit of damage in transit, I will ResKit would use larger boxes! Same goes for the wheels, these resin replacements will look much better. And finally (for now) some Zactomodels AIM-120 ARMAAM’s, they are an improvement to the kit ones. I am looking forward to this build, it should be nice and straightforward (would like one for a change), I’ve done some test fits with the new resin intake and all looks good there. For sanity’s sake I may leave out the resin wheel wells….no one will be picking up this model!

Folks.... need some advice: Got a 'need' to build an early F-16, either an A, or A+ / MLU machine, it's not particularly important as to which one of those nor the nationality as decals are pretty easily available. Really need / want the best or most accurate kit in 1:72. I seem to recall that the RoG kit from 2000 and all it's subsequent re-releases was supposed to be a very good A / MLU, just wondered what you guys think about it ? Over to you, thanks in advance.
