  1. Arriving too late to be used on my Trumpeter Su-34 - this latest set from Begemot covers all variants of the 'Fullback' - from the second prototype (Bort 43), through the early production machines and right up to date with the types deployment to Syria. Colour schemes range from the early Flanker-style camo, through the recently abandoned 'Eggplant/Aubergine' single colour uppers, right up to latest green/blue colours - FS Numbers are provided for all the colour schemes.. A full stencil sheet is included - and there are hundreds of them - plus a host of stencils for the weapons. This latter set alone is worth the asking price as it gives the correct designation and colours for the variety of ordinance used by the Su-34 A new feature is the printing of the instruction 'booklet' in colour - which is very welcome.... Note the inclusion of a decal for the underside Chaff/Flare dispenser. Stencils More stencils - including weapons. Addendum sheet including black outlines for the Bort numbers - note the new 'VKS Russia' titles. The decals are superbly printed and, from past experience, they go on to the model with the minimum of fuss and give excellent results. It looks like I will have to purchase some more Trumpeter kits to make use of this new set! Ken PS - The sheet is also available in 1/48 scale for the Kittyhawk and Hobbyboss kits.
  2. Ahoy folks, I have a question. My uncle has had a motorcycle kit for years and asked me if I'd put it together for him, but I've run into a potential snag. The decals for the kit, on the artwork and real pictures, are white. Mine have a cream tint, but its not on the carrier film, rather the actual text. However, the dial needles and markings still appear to be pure white. Has anyone else owned this kit to know whether they're supposed to be this colour, or weather I should try out the 'tape to window and let the sun fix them' technique I've just looked up? Cheers in advance. Gaz
  3. Hi, I have just joined this interesting network. Can you recommend reliable webshops in Europe, where you can buy wing and tailplane center sections., especially for the DC-10-30, which I am in the process of building one -30 and two -40. I am familiar with Kingkit, Hannants and FDcal. As far as Kingkit, I have bought the last set they had, Hannants did not have any at present, and neither did FDcal. Best wishes PanAmFlyer2
  4. it possible to build a 1/48 scale Hawker Typhoon from 609 sqd, I have a kit but need decals

Does anyone know if these decals are available in 1/72 scale struggling to add image. 173fw F-15C Eagle 75th Anniversary of Oregon Air National Guard
  6. Hi all! While browsing through an evil interweb site I came across a set of waterslide decals for the Northrop F-5 range of aircraft, by Monokio. Mysteriously they appeared in my mailbox 2 weeks later. Has anyone used Monokio decals? Specifically their ROKAF F-5A/B/E/F/RF-5A set (WD72001)? Any problems with them that are known? Any info would be much appreciated as I have a couple of F-5s that would look very cool in ROKAF markings. TIA! DennisTheBear
  7. Good morning all Does anyone know where I can get hold of one of these sets of markings for phamous phighter squadrons in 1/48 please? It doesn't have to be these specific aircraft in terms of serials, just the unit markings. I tried Hannants and RAM and eBay but to no avail.
  8. Long time reader... first time poster... HELP!!! Has anyone had this happen before? I finished a Testors 1/72 B-66 Destroyer on August 30th last year, and about a month ago I noticed the decals were turning black! Since then, I've seen it get progressively worse. I don't harbor any hope of salvaging the model, I just don't want to have it happen again. There were a few "firsts" for me on this build, so there are a lot of variables. But, here is the sequence of paint and decals: Tamiya spray gloss black (base) Alclad Polished aluminum + Alclad aluminum Alclad Aqua Gloss clear Decals (original kit decals purchased on e-bay) Testors metalizer sealer (pretty old bottle) Here is a photo of the decals under the cockpit on the day I finished it: Here is a photo taken tonight of the same decals: Here are a couple more examples of the decals that have turned black I've had decals turn brown before, but only after a couple of decades. But this has only been 6 months! The decals I bought were original, so they were 20 -25 years old, but in great condition (not yellow). I want to blame the decals, but I wonder if there was some reaction between the aqua gloss and the testors sealer that affected the decals sandwiched between? I'm just hoping to prevent this in the future, so I thought I'd throw it out to the community to see if anyone had any insight. Not to sound too melodramatic, but this is really heartbreaking; there is a long story behind this model, but in short it was the model I've been wanting to make since 1989 and I did it! Then this happened... Any help or insight would be appreciated -- I don't want to go through this again! For what it's worth, here's what it looked like in it's prime (5 months ago! Ha Ha!):
  9. I've just realised that the 'XH558' Airfix Vulcan instructions don't show the positioning for the plethora of underwing stencils that the old Airfix Vulcan decals have for the white one. Does anybody have a copy of the old Airfix decal instruction sheet they'd be willing to donate please? Or a scan of it - just showing where all those little blue stencils go? Thanks!
  10. Hello fellow modellers, Recently I've been building a few Hurricanes and Spitfires, along with some Bf 109's, to show the progressive changes in fighter camouflage. I've got to November 1940 and the change of scheme in Fighetr Command. There are precious few photos showing the late 1940 scheme with the black under wing. But there seems to be even less in the way of 1/72 decal sets for RAF fighter aircraft of this period. At least, I cannot find anything. I'm prepared to cobble someting togeteher, if I can find a reasonable photo reference. I'm aiming to use a Spitfire 1a (Airfix) that's being - slowly - assembled now. So I'm seeking help in finding the right aircraft and decals. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction? FatFlyHalf
  11. Hi, I'm pretty impressed with the general tenor regarding the AK Interactive Xtreme Metal range but I find close to no information about laying decals on top of surface painted with this line. Applying a layer of gloss would probably take away a good part of the metallic sheen so I was wondering if the painted surfaces are glossy enough to accept decals directly? Did anyone tried this? Can you show us some images? I'd like to avoid investing in a new line (thinner, cleaner, paints, etc) just to find out they are not of much use. Many thanks in advance! Cristian
  12. Hi all, Recently picked up a Heng Long mk1 Tiger for £60, painted in Panzergrau. The previous owner was a bit hamfisted, by that I mean he put the stickers on lopsided, the wrong number on the turret and the mudflap securing clip was snapped off. So, my plan is to repaint it as "Semken's Tiger", the first tiger captured in Normandy by the Sherman of John Semken, commander of the Wiltshire Yeomanry. The tiger in question is Tiger 114, 2nd Kompanie, 101st SS Schwere Panzer Abteilung. So my question is, does anyone know how to get hold of the appropriate decals or painting masks? Found some masks online but the tank in question has two colours to it, looks like a dark red with white border, and the mask looks like only one single colour. Any suggestions?
  13. Hi, I stumbled upon the JAL Disney Dream Express images and started wondering if anybody does decals for these liveries. I guess it won't be easy nor cheap given the fact Disney is involved but I thought I'll ask. Brasil Decals apparently did a sheet (BD144-04) but it doesn't seem to be available on their site (anymore). Thanks! Cristian
  14. Does anyone know if the 617Sqn 70th anniversary decals are available in 1/48th scale?
  15. Does anybody know if there are any 1/72 decals out there for an RAF 207 sqn DH Devon, circa 1980ish? Preferably one of the VP9.. serial ones? Ideally that Transport Command blue cheatline and the serial numbers.
  16. I came across a Kits World decal sheet for 1/72 Hurricanes. It has a couple of schemes that have peaked my interest. In particular, the Romanian Air Force one stands out in my eyes: Can anyone comment on the accuracy of these decals and the schemes illustrated?
  17. Just trying to plumb the experience of some more experienced modellers here: I'm currently approaching the decaling stage of a WNW Pfalz DIIIa, my first. I figured this one would be a gentle start rather than attempt the other dozen WNW kits which I have gathering dust in my ever expanding stash, and I was correct - it's gone together very nicely (and any and all mistakes are solely my own!). My question is this: I realise that WNW themselves advise against using any setting solutions in favour of using a hair-dryer, but is that entirely necessary? I used Micro- family solutions for the smaller decals - cockpit etc. - without any adverse effects (so as a very limited test there seems to be no issue), and I have never found Cartograf decals to be anything but tolerant of these solutions (with aircraft of other eras). Frankly I'd feel more comfortable using these solutions instead of risking using a hair-dryer (risk being relative, but I've never used the WNW recommended method before). Has anyone else gone rogue and used my proposed technique, or will it all end in tears if I push on? Any suggestions or cautionary tales are eagerly sought. SAS
  18. I'm looking to find a set of decals to the size and design of the one on this Hawk below. Does anyone here know of an existing 1:144 scale kit that has these decals, with the white outer band, or a decal producer that has them to this size? I'm not sure if the wing roundels are the same size and would be grateful for confirmation of that as well please. cheers Mike
  19. The title says it all. Linden Hill Decals has released again its beatiful 1:48 Arctic Flanker sheet, this time sized for the new Hobby Boss kit. Hobby Boss has released two 1:48 Flankers, early and late. Which of these two I have to pick for an accurate "Arctic" Flanker ? Best,
  20. Hi Everyone, I am after a really big favour from someone. I have started decaling this kit with the decals supplied in the kit. Having placed the majority of the decals I have ruined the rest of the sheet. I am aware that I can purchase after market sets but want to complete it with the markings I have. I am not usually an aircraft modeller so don't have loads of spare decals that I can scrounge from. I have contacted Airfix but they cannot help me. If anyone has a set that they don't need I would be most grateful if we could do some sort of deal. Phill
  21. Hello, I am new here. So I was assembling the revell 777-300er(zvezda repackaging), and I got the KLM decals from draw decals. My problem is, how do I paint the blue top of the plane, when I don't have spray paint, only paint brush, and I'd love if you guys helped me out. Thanks in adance!
  22. Our friends at Begemot have a new decal sheet that's being released, in the shape of the Tupolev SB in 1:72 - a quirky looking medium bomber , which despite its roots in the 1930s, saw service through until the end of WWII, despite any short-comings. The sheet contains 40 schemes from VVS, RKKA, Republic of Spain (Spanish Civil War), and even the Chinese Air Force for a bit of a change! Here's a sneak preview of what's included: It's available from their shop directly now here, and will doubtless filter through to the usual outlets in due course. As an aside (and quite an important one at that), there's going to be a new Su-33 in Syria sheet released in a few days in 1:48 initially, with 1:72 to follow a little later. If you're a fan of Soviet/Russia fast jets in foreign service, you'll want to watch out for it
  23. Hi all. Given how I now have an airbrush, and have boosted my techniques, I thought to myself today "Maybe I'll revisit my old 1/48 F/A-18F that I have in a box in the garage and complete it". I recalled I had the box in a cupboard in the house and went to check I had still had the instructions, parts and decals. So far so good. And then... Upon opening the instructions, i found they had stuck to the decals a bit. I thought it was maybe just the ink, but as it turns out, the decal sheet has a sizable amount of what looks like mould on it (brown dusty stuff). Aside from my instant annoyance at this, what has me equally dumbfounded, and kinda makes it worse, is that the decal sheet (which is a rather critical part) is literally the only thing in the entire box affected. The instructions are clean, the box is clean, the parts are clean. Has anyone else suffered from this before, or even know if there could be a way to clean them off? I have never ever seen this before. What's weirder is that the mould, for the most part, seems to have formed around the actual markings, so they could be salvageable (most at least) but still, I'm kinda at a loss as to how its just the decal sheet. Gaz
  24. Hello all I'm considering buying one of the Revell Tornado kits and I have a question about the available Luftwaffe edition kits for anyone who might know. Do the Luftwaffe kits have the data stencil decals printed separately from any decals associated with the special paint schemes they all have, or is there one of those kits that features a standard Luftwaffe "line bird" option on the decal sheet as well as the special scheme? I ask this as I'd like the kit for a "What if" project and I'll need German data stencils for it, but they will be useless to me if they are incorporated into a bigger decal or are not the fleet standard type. I know I could go the aftermarket route, but if one of those kits has a decal sheet that could save me the time it would be great. Thanks in advance
  25. Hi Paul I'm after a set of four red 'omega' logos, the four white Royal Navy decals for the Hasegawa 1/48 Phantom FG.1, as well as two sets of nose banners, Four fin 'R's and those weird degree stencils by the rear stabilisers. I'm fine for numbers and roundels and stencils. Is this something you could do? Any help appreciated. Best Rgds Ben
