Hi, Pigsty. Thanks for the notice. It makes a very refreshing change to see the price of something decreasing. Thank you for doing so. I will be at the show on the 3rd. Cheers. Chris.

As I'm sure many folks here are aware, the Hendon B-25 was sold to the Easy Kirkby museum fairly recently. I think I read it was snapped up for £1.00 - a real bargain, if it's true. Apologies if this has already been discussed on this thread. It would be very cool if they could get it taxying again. Chris.

If we're talking about the Polish aftermarket company, I believe the owner died towards the end of 2023. Unless someone has taken up production, it seems unlikely the company will continue to trade. Chris.

Masters of the Air - first episode in January 2024
spruecutter96 replied to TheKinksFan's topic in Entertainment Central
I agree with you on the DVD, but I wouldn't want to put money on a DVD or Blu Ray release. Physical media is rapidly becoming a thing of the past, unfortunately. If you want to watch the whole series for "free", wait until the 15th March (last episode), sign up for Apple TV's one week free-trial and binge it. Just remember to cancel your subscription after 7 days. Cheers. Chris. PS: If you decide to stay with Apple, "Slow Horses" is excellent and well worth paying your monthly subscription for. -
I've been told the two companies are on different floors of the same building. As Troy Smith has said, they share a parent company. Cheers. Chris.

I collected a few parts from the Hachette (?) 1/16th Sherman Firefly, several years ago. The company cancelled the project after something like five issues. They did offer a full refund to anyone who posted them the loose backing-cards from the early parts. I'm guessing that one was not a big seller..... Chris.

Anyone planning to go? Apparently, it will be a mix of warbirds and modern stuff. The Red Bulls B-25 is already booked, amongst others. Early Bird tickets are £38.00 (available now). Standard price will be £52.00. Cheers. Chris.

Anti-Gravity / Mag-Lev Racer

This is cooler than a Penguin's bum in January! The side-pods remind me of some of the shapes in the "Alien" derelict ship (still the very best-looking spaceship in film history, IMHO). Thanks for sharing with us. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Chris. -
Hi. There's also the possibility of "Chico The Gunfighter". As well as I can remember, this F-4E carried a Vulcan pod under each wing (in addition to it's nose-mounted 20mm gun) and went out looking for North Vietnamese trucks during daylight hours. Using three Vulcans on "soft-skinned" targets must have been devastating. Maybe a future project...? Cheers. Chris.

I was told that the big-boy Liberators production was heavily subsidized by the Chinese government. How true is this? I have no idea. Certainly, if the 1/32 B-24 had been produced by someone like Hong Kong Models, it would have been 2-3 the price upon introduction. Cheers. Chris.

I read a story 2-3 years ago that Humbrol was having to discontinue some of their range due to a European ruling that they contained harmful elements. Presumably, these elements were more harmful than the chemical nasties that are put out by every petrol-powered vehicle on our planet....Still one industry is worth Trillions of Dollars a year and the other caters to hobbyists. Have a guess which one loses out? Chris.

Random Star Wars question for linguists
spruecutter96 replied to Farmer matt's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
I couldn't answer the original question, but was reading that in the Chinese-subtitled version of one of the movies, when Annakin/Darth Vader is first told of his wife's death, his anguished cry of "No!" is subtitled as "Do not want"! Chris. -
Sky History channel tv programme about Ferdinand Porsche

Very much in agreement! Do the programme-makers think their audience have goldfish-like attention spans? It's very patronizing, Chris. -

It could be worse.... I watched an American documentary a while ago, in which it was claimed that the US Eighth Air Force was the only bomber-command to take the war directly to Germany. That must have come as quite a surprise to anyone who knows about the RAF's bombing-campaign during the war... Terrible, lazy, biased and very poorly researched. It made me more than a bit angry at the time. I'm not denigrating the massive US effort and loss-of-life involved in this part of the war, but a little accuracy goes a very long way. Cheers. Chris. -
If I live to be 500, I'll never understand the "appeal" of part-works like this one. Who has that kind of money to throw around, these days? Chris.

Bump for new listing, 2024 model-show - 4/1/24. -
You made over 5 grand at one small show? Your prices must have been EXTREMELY competitive. I've been selling my unwanted kits at shows from some time now and would be ecstatic to bring in a fifth of that figure... Chris.

Aliens 4K soon, followed by The Abyss and True Lies 4K
spruecutter96 replied to One 48's topic in Entertainment Central
There's a Youtube video floating around, saying that the recent US 4K releases of Aliens and the Abyss have surprisingly low picture quality, particularly given all the hype surrounding them. There was mention in the video of the grainy, "fast" film-stocks used for many low-key lighting scenes on both movies and it was implied that this was a major factor. Maybe in a world of the super-sharp, ultra hi-def movies of today, the picture quality of twenty or thirty years ago looks bad by comparison (?). How true is this? I have no idea. Considering that Cameron has a long-standing reputation for demanding perfection, it seems less plausible to me... Presented here for information only. Chris. -
Hi, Roncl. You probably already know about this, but here goes... If you're looking for the ULTIMATE visual reference on European F-104's, then I can't recommend DACO Books "Uncovering the F-104 Starfighter" highly enough. Not cheap, certainly, but worth every darned Euro (and then some). Easily worth 8 other books on the subject. Hope this helps. Chris.

Shuttleworth Scale Model Show - Sunday 18th February 2024

I've been told that the show is held in February, so it doesn't clash with the venue's airshows in any way. How accurate is this? I have no idea.... Chris. -
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: June 30th 23
spruecutter96 replied to One 48's topic in Entertainment Central
Presumably, filming the scene (at least, except the not very good CG bits of it) in the North of England had a lot to do with that. Cheers. Chris. -
I bought the A-10 book at Telford in November, so I would say it is available. Chris.

Thank for the replies, folks! I was beginning to think they might have given it a miss in 2024.... As other folks have stated, the hangar is ARCTIC at this time of year. Cheers. Chris.
