  1. Thx for your comments guys, much appreciated. Next build for me will have only 2 wheels Cheers Doc
  2. Stunning build Paddy and a great backdrop for the photos, really shows the colour off. A real shame about the canopy but I think we have all been there at some point, extra engine detail looks the business. Cheers Doc
  3. Well worth the extra effort with the detail Mike, great finish. Doc
  4. Whoops! Well this build actually accelerated without many progress shots and is now finished. However I did manage to grab a cockpit photo before it all got covered up:- Gave up on the foiling as it just wasn't working for me so in the end out came the faithful Halfords Nissan Silver with a few panels picked out in Alclad and an oil wash. Totally OTB build with the addition of the non Thunderbirds decal sheet. So this is the end result:- More pics found HERE. Cheers Doc
  5. Hi, Not sure whats wrong with me this year but this is the second build for '09 and I'm eating into the stash. Tamiya 1/48 F-84 Thunderjet, progress build can be found HERE if your interested. Not the best pics maybe I will get some outdoor shots over the weekend. Anyway the pics..... Thanks for looking Doc
  6. Superb finish Gary, yum yum. Very neat masking work and a lot of it! Well done mate Doc
  7. Cracking build mate Nice finish and especially like the realistic exhaust painting. Cheers Doc
  8. That is looking REALLY good Jen. Good tip on the pre-shade and obvious when you think about it, but not until someone explains and demonstrates does it all make complete sense! Looking forward to seeing some grime on the Prowler and are you intending to mist grey over the black decals to blend them? Keep em coming Doc
  9. Serious masking session alert! Great work John, very impressed with the scratchbuilding and should look great with some paint chucked on. Cheers Doc
  10. Looking very good Ian as usual. Serious work to get the resin to fit but looks the business. Cheers Doc
  11. Thats the very scheme I'm got planned Mike. I need some foiling practice for another NMF project so it seemed an obvious choice. How did the decals go down around the nose? Heard some scare stories about that.... Also would you have the instructions for that one still? Just after the decal placement for that version really. Cheers Doc
  12. Superb detail and paintwork, a real gem. Nice one Peri Cheers Doc
  13. Hi, After the Super Etendard build I fancy another jet quickie build. Enter stage left the Tamiya F-84G Thunderjet which has been in the stash for a year or so waiting for the right moment. Bought in the Thunderbird guise somewhere down the line I managed to get another set of decals for 508 SFW, Turner AFB 1956 showing the 4 queens logo and this is what I will use. After a peek in the box I was VERY impressed with the flawless plated finish on the sprues and I'm sure would make a really nice model OTB. Unfortunately this had to be removed to enable seams to be worked and any other filling required during the build. So a quick introduction to Mr Muscle oven cleaner and let him do his work overnight, in fact Tamiya had made a good job of the plated sprues and a further day soaking had to be endured before acceptable results achieved. I almost had to reach for the brake fluid but majority is now removed. I intend foiling this beast but for now I'm working on the cockpit and post some progress pics soon. Cheers Doc
  14. Your good....... I'll keep me gob shut from now on and marvel at the build. Cheers Doc
  15. Looks bloody fantastic, and good to see it being set in dio base. Looking forward to seeing this one take shape. Cheers Doc
  16. Looking very nice so far Karl & Jen. Always had a soft spot for the Condor, certainly one of best looking axis aircraft. Jen good luck with the patch job are you sure filler wouldn't be better for such a big gap rather than CA? Hope I can make it Yeovilton and see the results. Cheers Doc
  17. That is a cracking build Sandy, really nice finish and great detail throughout. Commander Jack would be proud! Cheers Doc
  18. Surprised nobody has mentioned foiling? Ordinary household kitchen foil used with and PVA white glue adhesive thinned is the best metal finish as its the real deal. Foil can be used shiney side out or dull side out. Plenty of info out there on using the stuff, try this. I used foil on an F-51 before and got an F-84 next on the build list which will get the same treatment. Cheers Doc
  19. Well gallery updated but I have left the canopy down, looks much neater I think. Thanks for your comments all, and Hector high on the to-do pile 1/32 Phantom and F-84 Thunderbird, sorry must be going through a 'jet phase' at the moment. Normal service will resumed asap. Cheers Doc
  20. 1/48 Airfix Dassault Super Etendard - Neomega cockpit - Tamiya acrylics / Build thread HERE Depicts an aircraft flown by Corvette Captain Bedacarratz of the Argentinean Navy, 2nd Escuadrilla, Puerto Belgrano 1982. On May 4th 1982 during the Falklands conflict he led a flight of 2 Super Etendards who launched AM.39 Exocet missiles at targets one narrowly missing HMS Yarmouth, the other hit HMS Sheffield. Great GB well done all. Cheers Doc
  21. That Aires pit looks like a nightmare to fit but it's looking mighty fine Bex. I'm sure you know if you intend dropped flaps there is a small flap section you would need to build inboard against the fus :- My crate if you are interested Keep posting the updates. Cheers Doc
  22. Looking very smart, great when the topcoat goes on and hides the preshade. I too have moved to post shading on certain models, you are able to see the results much clearer and adjust the spraying accordingly. The big downside being if you make a mess of the shading it's more difficult to rectify. Quick progress tho, I likey. Doc
  23. Nice start so far Mike, tub paintings looks luvery. Not too sure about the ejection handles tho.... Worth making some replacements from wire? Keep posting the progress. Cheers Doc
  24. Thanks peeps. Canopy is still not fixed on, I will glue in the open position for the gallery shots. Cheers Doc
  25. Some final build photo's, lighting not good but when the weather clears I will get some decent photos with outside light for the gallery. Anyhoo the pics; Thanks for looking. Cheers Doc
