  1. The Chinese Communists recived the first batch of La-9 fighters in late 1949. In August 1950the first oprational La-9 equipped unit had been formed and was assigned ro protect the airspace of Bei-j ing. When the Russians supplied the La-9 fighters to the Chinese Communists in November 1949, a number La-9 UTI trainers were also included.
