  1. Just got a Trumpeter, 1:35 scale, Schwere Plattformwagen type SSyms 80 of ebay for £31.50. The intention is to use it with an early Tiger of the Afrika Korps, but this is in the future. Has anybody built this Trumpeter offering and if so, is there anything to watch out for?
  2. Thanks for the replies, some useful help there regarding different brands. I have an old tin of Humbrol Hu70 which looks as though it's good enough for me. It turns out that what will be sprayed that colour will hardly be noticeable. I have a set of Tank Workshop radiators for the Tamiya Tiger 1 Mid version and after placing them under the grills, you'll probably need a magnifying glass to see them properly.
  3. Have been looking at various sites for a decent match for red oxide primer as used on German WWII vehicles. As far as I can see, Humbrol Hu70 looks to be a useable match. Has anybody else got any ideas on this. TIA Chris
  4. Jack, thanks for the reply. That was my thoughts regarding the white wash but just wanted to see what others thought. Chris
  5. Quick couple of questions regarding Tiger tanks of the eastern front in winter. When the white wash was applied to the tank wheels, was it just the parts that would be seen or was it all the wheels? Would white wash be applied to the area of the hull behind the wheels? TIA Chris
  6. Bought my first tank kit at the weekend, tell a lie, it's my second. The first has tropical fish in it. For some reason the Tamiya 1:35 King Tiger took my fancy. Normally I only build aircraft. Now I have a couple of questions for the armour people. How does this kit stack up against the Dragon offering Have tried to find out the colours needed as I prefer to use enamels. I don't know if I'm correct but are the colours dunkelgelb, braun ral8000 and olivesgrun ral6003 correct? TIA Chris
  7. Somebody must have either a bad slice or snap hook then.
  8. Greg That's what I thought but just wanted to make sure.
  9. Building the 1:24 scale Typhoon as a 3 blade, small tail plane version but have a question regarding which seat harness to use. Would it be the QK harness or the QS, QL, QP harness. Considering using the Radu Brinzan offerings. Chris
  10. Tanks were aluminium. As for the nose, I did mine with Halfords grey primer and left it at that. See if anybody can prove that it's the wrong colour
  11. Probably not the correct forum but here goes. Just been announced on our local news prog, Calendar, that the 2 Lancs will leave Coningsby , a week on Thursday to land at Waddington. Later they will depart Waddo along with XH558 and a couple of Hawks. Nothing said where they are going.
  12. Thought my replacement was better than the original but have since noticed a big blemish on the top part of the canopy. This is only visible when the canopy is held up to the light. The replacement sprue had the canopy attached by one gate, same as the original. At least this one was not cracked.
  13. When I contacted Airfix about the kit canopy I was told that they new about the problem and had altered the moulding process so the new ones should have no imperfections. It looks like that has not totally cleared the problem, that is if I have one out of the new batch.
  14. Mine arrived yesterday. Not perfect but a lot better than the original. The canopy has a very small blemish on each side. The windscreen has an imperfection in the middle section. Wondering if a coat of future will do the trick, if not, will wait to see if a resin aftermarket offering comes on the market.
  15. Have just received my first Airfix Tiffie 1:24 scale kit and have a question regarding one part. I have noticed that there are 3 spinners, 1 for four blades (G05) and 2 for three blades (G10 - G11). There is no mention in the instructions for G-11. I was wondering if this could be taken as a pointer to a car door version?
  16. I will be doing one with three blades and the other with four blades. Armament and markings yet to be decided. Will be using the new radiator etch set and more than likely the posable seat harness, both from Radu Brinzan.
  17. Absolutely stunning builds. Can't believe the progress that you have made so quickly.
  18. I'm not a fan of etched harnesses as well. I was thinking of the fabric belts which are much better in my opinion.
  19. Lovely work so far, looking forward to getting my grubby mitts on mine. How's the injection seat harness stack up against the posable offerings of manufacturers such as Radu Briznan.
  20. Not thinking of getting a set, just wondered what was in it. Consider it would be a waste of money as unless the Mossie was mounted on a mirror base, who would see it.
  21. Nice piccies. Your better half paid for your trip to Amsterdam, lucky you. Mine spat her dummy out when I mentioned that me and some mates were thinking of going there for a long weekend. Can't think why she did that
  22. Looking on the Hannants web site, I noticed that Aires do a wheel bay set for the Tamiya 1:48 scale Mosquito. Has anybody seen this set as there is no picture of it on the listing or on Aires own web site. Wondering whats in the set.
  23. Looking at the instructions for the Eduard A-9 kit and have a query regarding one colour call out. The aircraft to be built is Red 22, wr no. 490044 of II/JG301. This was RLM81 (brunviolett) and RLM82 (hellgrun) over RLM76 (lichtblau) with the RLM81 colour extended to wrap around the leading edges of the wings. Central parts of the wing u/s was aluminium. Tail band was yellow and red The instructions give the spinner colour as RLM70 (schwarzgrun) but the colour profile shows it as black. Anybody throw any light on this. I've tried to find out myself off the web but nothing has come up. TIA
