Hi all,
My dad drove these in the TA many years ago too. He said they were as fast backwards as forwards and no crick in the neck whilst driving backwards because of the angled seat!
I'm building the old Matchbox 1/76 one along with a resin Ferret, and I've got a resin Fox on order...not to mention the Saracens and Saladins.

I was going to say the Corgi one too, but an earlier model. It was a GXL like yours but was only a 2-door. There was a metallic blue/green one {with a 'Graham Hill' figure} and a POLICE one. The big problem is the 2-door bodyshell.

Hi,
I, too, have a Hobby Boss 'Song' class but mine is 1/200 whose stand appears to be made by Pola....at that scale it's likely to be a 'stand alone' model.
It's not a subject I know much about but it was a club Secret Santa gift with a deadline so I'm on a steep learning curve. I hadn't thought of red primer for the hull
Very interesting thread, thanks chaps.

Hi,
I've never built a submarine model but our club had a Secret Santa and I've acquired a PLAN vessel. It's Hobby Boss 1/200 039G 'Song' class. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi,
I didn't know they existed until I went to Hendon for the first time last year.
I thought about building one too, but, like you, I didn't know equipment was on board.
Base Toys do a similar cab but on a shorter chassis, however all their parts are interchangeable.

Saw the vulcan over Hastings on Sat....and as I used to live in Hastings I think that just might count! Spectacularly magnificent, and you could just hear the howl over the wind.
Hi,
I'm looking for info about a Saracen seen in Belfast many years ago, it carried Red Crosses and had a Daktari sign on the light mast.
The sign was red with white lettering iirc.
Was this the same vehicle as in the JB/Airfix kit?
Hopefully someone can help,
Steve
Good pictures. I have a question though (two actually), the Japanese one has 5 windows so are they the same configuration as the heliliner? Also is the fuselage longer than the standard RAF/RN Merlins? I have an RAF one in the stash....
