  1. Thanks Graham, that’s a really interesting point about the scheme - I must go back and re-read my copy - if true it rubbishes a lot of pre-conceptions! I tend to agree with you regarding the blister - the one useful image of the airframe on the raid does vaguely suggest the earlier unit. Do you think they would have been brownings in the mid upper by then?
  2. Hi I have the 1/72 Airfix model ready to build Edward’s Blenheim Mkiv GB*D - V6028 from the 1941 Bremen raid for which he won the VC. However, though I have the book “Battle-Axe Blenheims,” detailing 105 squadron’s exploits, there isn’t a clear pic of the aircraft such that I can tell what type of under nose blister gun or mid upper the aircraft sported. From what pics there are in the book, I’m inclined towards the earlier single gun under the nose. Any ideas please? James
  3. Hi Is it my imagination or did I see somewhere on this marvelous site the suggestion that, for more scale accuracy, one could replace the skinny Trumpeter Wellington wheels with those from the Revell Halifax? Many thanks James
  4. Gents - thank you for responses, all most helpful and informative.
  5. I have begun building the 1/72 Trumpeter Wellington Mk III intending to use markings SR*F of 101 squadron as it appears in Ian Allan's Bomber Squadron at War. I choose these markings as the captions suggest the bomber was lost on the Thousand Bomber raid to Cologne. I am developing an interest in this raid and have already purchased the Italeri Stirling Mk 1 to be modelled as a 15 squadron aircraft which also flew on the raid. From the pics I have of the Wellington it is unclear as to whether the waist guns were fitted. Can anyone help? Was it the norm to fit these weapons?
  6. Does anyone know whether we can expect a MkIII, after the Mk1 and Mk IV? Thanks James
  7. Hi If I wanted to use the Hasegawa F-15C tooling to make an IDF F-15A circa Lebanon War, the kit does not provide for the earlier wheels. Does anyone know whether there is anywhere besides the Esci/Ertl kit, that I can get some? Thanks James
  8. Gents So if I have the 1/72 Yellowhammer decal sheet what do I need to replace (and with what from where) if I want to build a more accurate "blue" toom? Many thanks James
  9. If I was to add the lower tail plane and back end of a GR1 to my Revell F3 would I have made a 229 sqdn F2? Is there anything else? Were any twin stickers? The level of authenticity I aim for does not require me to mix concrete for the nose and, I am not minted, so the purchase of Modeldecal sheet 76 will have to wait. Correct me if I wrong but many of the items I need are on MD97?
  10. I think the 100 Group sheet will be exceptionally popular - so many options on the one sheet for different aircraft!
  11. Dear All Does anyone know the serials for the first operational Typhoon for 17 and 29 squadrons? Notwithstanding a few errors noted elsewhere, presumably I could use the 1/72 Model Alliance decal sheet to re-create these aircraft, with a change in codes and serials? Thanks James
  12. That is outstanding and inspiration for me to get on with my Eduard B-24MkVI
  13. That was indeed the one I was thinking of. Didn't realise it was on BM. Should've known better! You could always do your own interpretation and then when feeling considerably braver (and far more skilled)one could follow in your footsteps!! Yes of course, the Sturgeon, how could I forgot, oh wait . . .
