  1. Folks, does anyone have any or know of any photos of 151 Sqn's Vampires from their early days at RAF Leuchars in 1951? I am keen to know if they operated any single seaters alongside the NF10's (according to the Warpaint book they did but I have never seen any other references to this effect). Also I would like to know if they had any Mosquitoes on charge when they reformed as the Warpaint book also says they converted from the NF36's onto Vampires whereas most histories of the Squadron state they reformed on Vampire NF10's. 2. How are you dealing with the airbrake bays, I guess they'll be boxed in somehow? I have the Airwaves etched airbrakes but had never seen any pictures of the bays so didn't use them. They will get used on the next one as I've just found the Whirlybirds resin pen nib rear end in the depths of the stash that I bought ages ago so an FAW5 in 151 Sqn markings will be on the cards sometime. 3. Thanks for those photos, some nice clean Typhoons there. The weather looks a lot better than it was yesterday anyway. Duncan B
  4. As Bill says no difference to the exhausts at all. Duncan B
  5. Great finish on your Starfire and the F100 is very nice too. Duncan B
  6. It is blooming annoying though, last night I was decalling the red "tulip" around the nose of a 1/72 Fw190 and when I got to the last part it overlapped by a good few mm,.Of course the next one was well and truly stuck, having been done the night before. My last 2 models have both suffered decalling disasters, I'm getting fed up of having to order replacements. Duncan B
  7. I also had one of these when they were new, I did the Belgian one as I remember. It was a great little kit at the time and looks like it would still hold its own today. Duncan B
  8. Well done that man! What a great paint finish. The attic must be fairly creaking with the weight of that. Duncan B
  9. Very nice, really makes me think how different my RAF career might have been. Duncan B
  10. Thanks Glenn that is a better view which really confirms what I had thought. Duncan B
  11. I like the way you have constructed the back end, very clever and so effective. Duncan B
  12. That is some project you have set yourself, hopefully it'll go smoothly for you. Duncan B
  13. Your style is perfect for this model, it looks spot on or could even be a bit more faded in places. DB
  14. I hope I haven't infringed anyone's copyright by posting that photo but it is a great photo and I was lucky enough to find it before completing my Phantom or else I would have followed the decal instructions too. Keep the Tooms coming Brian. Duncan B
  15. @ Duncan.....thanks for pointing that out and look forward to you posting some photos. I've attached the Modeldecal sheet showing what is their position. Cheers Brian. Here you are Brian: I nearly fell into the same trap myself when I was making my one which is why I raised the issue. I hope you don't think I'm knocking your model as I think it is one of the nicest 892 Sqn Tooms I've seen. http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Navy/McDonnell-Douglas-F-4K/0517369/&sid=e144fb094401a933f563ce7bca1db41a An early photo which clearly shows the position of the roundel underneath being central but the upper is only just visible due to being further inboard. And here's one from 1976, check out 001's Stbd outer wing compared with 002's port wing and you'll see the roundels aren't in the same position top and bottom. Duncan B

Blueish, I'd say but congratulations on having 3 tins of the late war mystery colour in your paint stock too, could come in handy for those Fw190D's you might be planning. Duncan B
  17. So I wasn't the only insomniac modelling at stupid o'clock this morning! I wasn't that productive though. Duncan B
  18. I think I could use this as a shelf for displaying my 1/72 Javelins! Is the tail plane fixed or can it be positioned? (Not a big problem to fix that anyway) Form an orderly queue behind me for this one. Duncan B
  19. I hope you guys don't start pointing out the faults with my models, it would crash the server I looked at the photos and at the model and couldn't see what was different! A great looking model and great detail photos from Marek too now let's move on please. Duncan B
  20. That is one very small kit, the finish makes it look like it could be a bigger scale. Duncan B
  21. Great looking models of what I think are quite ugly aircraft in real life. Sometimes the more unusual the subject the more interesting the model and one thing for sure is there are lots of interesting colour schemes for the Starfires. Duncan B
