  1. Even 10 years later they still looked lighter (and they had all been through majors by then). Look at photos from around the period of the Jubilee when the Phantoms were carrying the nose flashes, they still look lighter than the Buccs. I am sure it's a trick of the light as much as anything else. Duncan B
  2. Another brilliant piece of modelling art from you, the colour scheme is very attractive. Duncan B
  3. Can anyone tell me what the visual (as far as the kit goes) differences there are between the RAAF P-8 and the RAF P-8? I'm asking because one of my friends was going to buy the kit from me to build a RAF one but told me the differences were too obvious without going into details. I'd like to know in case another customer wants to do the same thing and asks this question (I hate not being able to answer this type of question). Is it specific aerial fits etc or something more substantial? To answer the question about postage costs, the BPK kit actually comes in a surprisingly small box and posts as a small parcel so should be about £3.70 through RM to UK addresses. Duncan B
  4. It always amazes me when looking at photos of that period that the Buccs did look to be painted in a different colour than the mighty Tooms. I know that they were both EDSG but the Phantoms always looked lighter, maybe screaming through the higher atmosphere beyond the speed of sound as opposed to puddling around with the seagulls made all the difference to the paints 🤣. Personally I think Mr Color/Hobby's EDSG is too dark straight out of the pot so I either lighten it a little or just use their DSG with a drop or 2 of their EDSG in it. Duncan B
  5. I've seen a few of the Arma Hobby Hurricanes built up now but this is the nicest of some very nice builds I've seen. In every build it is obvious that Arma Hobby have produced an excellent kit so I may well have to have a go at one soon. Great conversation on the possible variations on the colours scheme, my compliments to yourself and Troy for keeping it in a positive and polite form, something that many people online seem to not be able to do. Duncan B
  6. I'm not normally one to comment on civil models but this is so nice. The Jet2 scheme is very eye catching and even more so because you masked and painted it. it must be an impressive looking model in the flesh. Duncan B
  7. There is an RAF version coming from BPK, not sure when it's due to land but it isn't too far away. Duncan B
  8. Yes, ours were stuffed with chaff too when required. Duncan B
  9. That's the way I like them, all worn and scruffy. Very nicely done. Duncan B
  10. That is a show stopper, great photography for the 'outdoor' shots too. Duncan B
  11. ....anxiety for me, also not pleasant. Some quite debilitating panic attacks while out and about. No apparent trigger for it so hopefully it'll settle down soon. I hope you are feeling better soon too. Duncan B
  12. Slowing down when flying. (it's the McDD name for the air brakes). Duncan B
  13. I don't remember them using the speed brakes on landing, pretty sure they didn't. Duncan B
  14. Muddy mostly! Duncan B
  15. All the FGR2s were mandraulically powered wing fold, almost all the FG1's were hydraulically powered however there was at least one that wasn't (which I discovered to my horror when having to fold it up with a speed brace and muscle power). If I remember correctly it was one of the prototypes (or more accurately pre-production I guess?) that had been brought up to full spec and delivered to 43 Sqn. Duncan B
  16. I have never made an F-16 either and am also tempted by the new Kinetic kits. Seeing your fine work has pushed me a little closer to taking the plunge. Duncan B
  17. That is a great job, I have an idea what you went through with the Foxbot masks as I am currently using their mask set on a 1/48 Flanker. Duncan B
  18. It's a big beast isn't it, very nicely done. Duncan B
  19. No WIP but here's a couple of photos. The light grey and dark blue areas were sprayed with my new toy. Duncan B
  20. I have never seen one in FAA colours before and it really suits them. RNAS Arbroath is largely overlooked but I'd love to delve more deeply into it's pre-Commando days, I know it was where the FAA Aircraft Apprentices were trained at one point but know very little about it really. Duncan B
  21. It's not just the kits. Recently I decided to replace my trusty old Iwata Hi-Line HP-CH airbrush after more than a decade of use and was gobsmacked to see that it now retails at £315, that's more than doubled in price. I decided to see what my Iwata Custom Micron would cost me now and it's £650 which is also double what I paid for mine. I certainly wouldn't be paying those kind of prices now as nice as those airbrushes are. Duncan B
