  1. Ok just for you, some quick photos, not the best quality but you'll get the drift. Mr Surfacer used to fill the step at the front of the wing and a wee swipe of filler at the back of the wing too but not bad for a snap together kit. Duncan B
  2. Thanks Jonathan, I have Mr Color, Mr Hobby and Xtracolour Camo grey so sorted with that colour. Duncan B
  3. Hasegawa have quoted colours in the FS range for the Typhoon which seems strange for a European aircraft, what are the correct colours for a RAF Typhoon and who does the colour without having to mix as Revell advise? I know the undercarriage is LAG but what colour is the inside of the intakes, LAG or white? Duncan B
  4. I'm aware of the wheel issue but I'm not sure if I'll splash out for resin wheels for it, maybe have a trawl through the spares box and see what turns up instead. I just wanted a model that would take me less than 6 months to build without getting bogged down. I'm going off using a vacform canopy too as long as the kit canopy is useable. I'll save the vacform for the Revell 190's in the stash. I should be ready for primer tomorrow, meteoric rate of building for me (I'm still painting two 1/72 109's which I put together on the weekend of Telford). Duncan B
  5. Whisky without the "e" please, it is Scotland after all! Duncan B
  6. Thanks Libor, I think the wash is too heavy on the fuselage aft of the cockpit so I might tone it down a little. I have a Spanish Civil War Bertha following closely behind this build. Duncan B
  7. Very nicely done Fuad. At the RAF museum at Cosford they have a Fritz X and an engine from one of these. Duncan B
  8. Hi Mike The only filler needed was at the front of the lower wing where it joins the fuselage behing the engine, there was a bit of a step. Other than that no filler required. I will add the headrest too but might use a vac form canopy. Duncan B
  9. While waiting for the decals to dry on another kit I thought I'd have a go at the Zvezda Fw190 which I bought on a whim. Yeah gads the thing has thrown itself together in less than an hour and although some of the detail might be a bit soft the overall impression is very nice. I have been amazed at the engineering of the kit, the usual areas of concern for me are around the top engine cowling and gun bays on the Hasegawa and Tamiya kits, not a problem with this kit, no filler required anywhere and no nasty step where the parts meet. Even the wing joints look amazing. What a great kit for the money and if like me you have lots of spare decals in the stash I can recommend this kit for using them up. Duncan B
  10. Well done, I've built one so I know how much you've had to do (and how much filler you used lol). Duncan B
  11. Awe inspiring build and finish on both your models. I think the AFV style weathering has worked really well. Duncan B
  12. Only a week? Blimey, it'd take me a week just to muck up the decals. Nice job. Duncan B
  13. Looks great, I really liked the Esci Phantoms, shame they are not around now. Duncan B
  14. Surely not the G6 with the lumps and bumps? G1-4 but really it had been over developed by the 6 and they should have moved on. At what point did the Spitfire go to "mutton dressed as lamb", Mk 9 or 12? Duncan B
  15. No, the 109 certainly didn't even start out as a pretty thing and lose her looks as she got older like the Spitfire. Just brutish efficiency from the start. I think the F was actually the best looking of the bunch and it appeared at the time that the Spitfire was starting to lose its looks IMO.Duncan B
  16. Great photos as usual Mike, very convincing. I really like the air to air shot with the chase plane's wing in view, very clever. Duncan B
  17. Another good build Teenmodeller, it is a step up from your Buccaneer. I know you are modelling on a pocket money budget, most of us started off the same so here is a cheap idea for a wash. Try using a cheap watercolour paint and run it into the panel lines, let it dry and wipe off any that has spilled over. You can mix them to get the colour you want too so it'll never look too strong. Great effort, keep them coming. Duncan B
  18. You should put the end cans into production, I'd certainly buy a couple of sets. May as well go the whole hog and make a set of air brakes and a cockpit for me as well :0 Duncan B
  19. I have finally finished this kit originally started for the Bf109 group build back in November! In my defence I was away for several months but I take so long to build anything I probably wouldn't have got it finished in time anyway. The kit is a limited run type moulded in a very hard plastic but with fine scribed detail and a vacformed canopy, resin cockpit and etched fret included. It went together quite nicely without too much trouble however I replaced the undercarriage with more detailed resin legs and G10 style tyres from the spares box. The mass balances unique to the V1 were made from plastic card and the pitot added again from the spares. The first of the many, it looks good in amoungst it's younger brothers in the model cabinet. I hope you like it. Thanks for looking Duncan B Edit I forgot to mention that I made the undercarriage doors out of an Irn Bru can cut to shape (top tip from Nobby) as the kit ones were the wrong shape. The oil cooler and oil tank in the leading edges of the wing are metal foil with ridges embossed in the foil to simulate the fins on the cooler.
  20. Fantastic colour scheme, it does break up the shape and draw the eye away from the fat belly and big nose. Duncan B
  21. Very witty it's no yolk, this is serious modelling. Duncan B
