    April Fools

There's a page I follow on Facebook that is a satire of a Scottish travel information type page. It's usually full of daft stuff such as photos of exotic locations titled as places in Scotland and factious travel tips. Today it was full of photos of Edinburgh castle and other famous Scottish landmarks titled as such, a bit of a twist on the April Fools theme. Duncan B
  2. The Ju-87, Fw190A and Bf109 plastic is outstanding. The clear parts in particular are the best I have ever seen. I think the instructions are the biggest let down but anyone with any experience and access to a forum like this will not struggle to get the colour callouts. Duncan B
  3. For Argentina, with its huge airspace, to have no current proper air defence aircraft must be a real worry for the military and Government. I hope they can get this deal over the line as the other options are a geopolitical nightmare for the West who would much rather have Argentina on side. Duncan B
  4. Very nicely done. Those who said the Lightning is ugly, go stand in the naughty corner until you learn your lesson Duncan B
  5. Not sure what you been by "regulated" but the DHL system is so bad that the drivers all have to manually sort their routes and can change during the route. DPD system also allows the drivers to move their route around before they confirm it, once set that's it though (officially, but there are ways). I've worked for both so have experience of their systems. I'm pretty sure that most Delivery Companies use similar systems so routes can be altered either before setting off or during, after all the road network is an ever changing beast so road closures etc can appear at any time and their systems need to be flexible enough to work around the unexpected. 6. Well it turned out really nicely in the end. I don't think the lack of panel lines detracts from the final product, in fact if you hadn't pointed it out I wouldn't have noticed. It's too easy to over emphasise recessed panel lines on a light colour scheme and spoil the over all effect so I think you have dodged a bullet there. Duncan B
  7. What the driver told you is total toot. He can deliver out of turn, and if he had experience (or could be bothered) he would already have spotted that he had 2 orders next door to each other and would have sorted the parcels so he could deliver both at the same stop. The App does sort the route but it's not always (i.e. is never) in the most efficient order. If there are 3 stops on a street you can almost guarantee that it'll try to get you stop at the first then do the third then turn and do the middle one before turning again and if it's a new build estate that hasn't been properly mapped yet it can become a rear big issue! This is where the experience comes in and where a decent driver will sort his next set of stops out to avoid this, it helps if he/she knows the route and area too. In the winter it wasn't uncommon for me to completely reverse my routes so that the rural stuff was done first in daylight. The one thing that is affected by the driver reordering the route is the predicted delivery times that the tracking shows the customer will not be accurate if the route is changed but that's the only impact. Your driver was either a newbie or simply couldn't be bothered to check and sort his route before he loaded. Duncan B
  8. I couldn't resist this book after seeing some snippets on Facebook. I've always wanted to tackle an all grey F-14 but been to scared to until now. There are some great ideas in this that are transferable to any build so even if I never tackle the Tomcat it'll still have been worth it. Duncan B
  9. Well it looks really nice to me despite your issues with it. Duncan B
  10. That's where the cross over between modellers and guitarist is then. Here's some of mine. Now that I'm retired I'm looking forward to getting back to playing them more regularly. "Alex" and "Stan" "Rory" "Birthday Boy" There are a couple of others that I need to get some photos of including the first decent guitar, an all black 1978 Strat, I bought with my tax rebate when I completed my RAF Apprenticeship many moons ago. 11. What a beautiful looking machine that is in the yellow wings colour scheme. Great work wrestling the kit into shape. Duncan B
  12. Great start, I like the look of those 3d printed parts. The drooping tailplane part saves a lot of work. I am hoping that the law of kit bashing means that your work here will prompt the imminent announcement by Airfix of a down sizing of their fabulous 1/48 Javelin to 1/72 lol. Duncan B
  13. Very nicely done. I really must get mine started. Duncan B
  14. That's different and really shows off the kit well. Duncan B
  15. Fantastic result considering where you were starting from. I'm struggling along with a Sword T.5 at the moment so have an idea of what you have been through. Duncan B
  16. Very fine looking Arado, well done Stew. Duncan B
  17. I do like Wildcats and this is a beautiful example of the early scheme. Very nicely done. Duncan B
  18. Even 10 years later they still looked lighter (and they had all been through majors by then). Look at photos from around the period of the Jubilee when the Phantoms were carrying the nose flashes, they still look lighter than the Buccs. I am sure it's a trick of the light as much as anything else. Duncan B
  19. Another brilliant piece of modelling art from you, the colour scheme is very attractive. Duncan B
  20. Can anyone tell me what the visual (as far as the kit goes) differences there are between the RAAF P-8 and the RAF P-8? I'm asking because one of my friends was going to buy the kit from me to build a RAF one but told me the differences were too obvious without going into details. I'd like to know in case another customer wants to do the same thing and asks this question (I hate not being able to answer this type of question). Is it specific aerial fits etc or something more substantial? To answer the question about postage costs, the BPK kit actually comes in a surprisingly small box and posts as a small parcel so should be about £3.70 through RM to UK addresses. Duncan B
  21. It always amazes me when looking at photos of that period that the Buccs did look to be painted in a different colour than the mighty Tooms. I know that they were both EDSG but the Phantoms always looked lighter, maybe screaming through the higher atmosphere beyond the speed of sound as opposed to puddling around with the seagulls made all the difference to the paints 🤣. Personally I think Mr Color/Hobby's EDSG is too dark straight out of the pot so I either lighten it a little or just use their DSG with a drop or 2 of their EDSG in it. Duncan B
  22. I've seen a few of the Arma Hobby Hurricanes built up now but this is the nicest of some very nice builds I've seen. In every build it is obvious that Arma Hobby have produced an excellent kit so I may well have to have a go at one soon. Great conversation on the possible variations on the colours scheme, my compliments to yourself and Troy for keeping it in a positive and polite form, something that many people online seem to not be able to do. Duncan B
  23. I'm not normally one to comment on civil models but this is so nice. The Jet2 scheme is very eye catching and even more so because you masked and painted it. it must be an impressive looking model in the flesh. Duncan B
  24. There is an RAF version coming from BPK, not sure when it's due to land but it isn't too far away. Duncan B
