  1. Chris Been watching this slowly develop into a stunning masterpiece. Absolutely love this plane and your work is real inspiration, using your own skills and old school techniques. Look forward to your future builds. Cheers Rich
  2. How about a 1/32 Hawker Hart and family, they would certainly get my vote
  3. Truly sorry to hear the passing of Tony he was the creator and genius behind rock group Magnum. They have been one of my favourite bands since I got into music at 16 and have produced some fantastic albums if you haven’t listened to them check out ‘On A storyteller’s night’ and in particular the song Les Morts Dansant. It tells the story of soldier being executed in the First World War by his own side. Listen here Magnum Site
  4. Divide and conquer, experience tells them to use as many social media apps to divert some of the traffic I do recall that this site crashed as well last year (albeit temporary) Youtube link
  5. Just looked at the Corgi releases and there is a new B26 Marauder in 1/72 and a 1/48 Tornado Not that there is a direct link, but definitely a maybe as future releases
  6. Thats a good point They did the Canberras as well (pre Hornby) The Attacker might be on the cards, agree on the Battle, but how about a Venom or even better a Sea Venom, I would imagine that would sell well.
  7. Airfix Workbench Rotadyne The above link doesn’t mention reworking the canopy/clear parts I believe Airfix only do this when the original mould has got lost and they reverse engineer it.
  8. Don’t know if they are relevant but Airfix has recently posted videos or images of the following on Facebook (probably not, but thought I would raise it) ( the scales are my guess if the items are relevant) Hurricane (1/24) Vought Corsair (1/48) P-38 Lightning (1/72) F/A18 Hornet (1/72) only 1 sleep to all is revealed
  9. From this week’s workbench: New Year means new Airfix kit announcements One of the few benefits of us all going back to work at the start of any new year is that we do so in the sure and certain knowledge that we are about to be transfixed by a spectacular new collection of Airfix model kits, with the launch of the latest Airfix range. Featuring a collection of new tooling projects, new scheme options and artwork for some range favourites and the return of some kit classics, range launch day usually sees the Airfix website struggling to cope with all the additional traffic, as thousands of people rush to take a first look at what kits might be tempting them over the coming months and if our designers have been hard at work producing a newly tooled example of their own favourite modelling subject. Range launch this year will be taking place at 4pm on Tuesday 9th January, so things will hopefully have settled down by the time you get home from work, allowing you to spend a few uninterrupted minutes inspecting all the new kits we have in store for you throughout 2024. We will, of course, be posting a range overview edition of Workbench next week, where we will be taking a closer look at some of the significant additions to the range, before moving on to feature all the new tooling additions to the 2024 range in more detail over the next few months. By the time we have covered everything, we'll be ready for range launch 2025 - how time flies when you're an Airfix modeller! No giveaways there, only plural new tools, so we should get at least 2
  10. 1/48 Fairy Battle Thought that might follow the Fulmar, hope they get it right
  11. I am no expert, but Airfix have released 2 additional boxings of the 1/48 Sea Fury both with foreign users as the box art. I think they released a RAAF boxing of the meteor F8 as well Airfix were at the Avon IPMS annual show to showcase the Seaking and some other releases. Talking to them, I was told Airfix usually release at least 2 boxings of each kit, so I would expect a 2nd Gannet release (to include foreign options Australian & German at some point) I am not referring to new versions I.e trainer or AEW I do wonder how successful Airfix find putting a foreign user on the box art opposed to a British option? Don’t think it hurt the first release of the Naval Lynx which I believe had a German version as the box art. I am sure Airfix know what they are doing and have a much better idea of how to sell their kits than I do.
  12. How about the Chickasaw? It’s the US version of the Westland Whirlwind, would sit nicely with the Sea King in 1/48 Few other possible options there too
  13. The 1/72 Mig-23 ML seems to have escaped the above list (Mikoyan MiG-23ML Soviet fighter (100% new molds) NEW - IV quarter) https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ICM72182?result-token=CMSLp
  14. I expect they will let us know in this week’s workbench blog as it will probably be the last of the year

  16. As it’s nearly the time that we find out, thought I would suggest the following: Name 1 each of the following for Airfix to supply us in 2024: a) New Tool b) Up or down scale of an existing kit c) Vintage Classic d) Surprise release mid year my response (guess) a) 1/48 Westland Lysander b) 1/48 Jet Provost c) Short Skyvan d) 1/72 B24 Liberator please have a go, just for fun 🥳
  17. Wonder if 2024 will be the year we get a new ship kit of the QEC Aircraft Carrier? It’s been on the cards for a while at least 2 years, so would have thought if it’s going to turned into plastic, it will be this year. personally hoping we see some more FAA Airframes, but happy that Airfix are just turning out decent kits.
  18. I think Airfix were pleasantly surprised how well the surprise releases went down and no doubt will repeat them in future years. Of course how and when will need to be different each year otherwise it will be predictable, it will certainly keep us lot speculating and therefore provide Airfix with some positive marketing. I certainly hope they keep it up, I find it much more interesting trying to guess what is coming our way than getting the whole lot once a year, but I am sure others may prefer to have it the other way. Not long now until we see what jewels are heading to market in 2024
  19. Would expect to see modified tools of the following: 1/48 SeaKing either Commando or RAF variants 1/48 Anson (variants without the turret) Educated Guess Down Scale to 1/72 the Anson and/or Hunters Up scale to 1/48 Gloster Gladiator and Mosquito B or PR. XVI Pure Guess: 1/48 AIRACOBRA 1/48 Venom 1/48 Lysander 1/72 Halifax 1/72 Liberator 1/72 B26 Marauder 1/48 Seafire (Merlin engined) 1/48 Brewster Buffalo 1/72 F16 ( as it’s 50 years old) finally 1/24 Hurricane or Corsair
  20. Lovely build Tom, nice to see a different B-17, especially a Naval version
  21. Amazing collection How do you keep them dust free? Could you post some more shots, would love to see the choppers?
  22. Received an email from Jadlam with the following detailed images And some of the sprues (not sure if it’s all of them) And decals It does look lovely and not too long to wait 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
  23. my guess …. With Oppenheimer being released and popular at the cinema, plus the 25th July seems to be the anniversary of at least 3 nuclear explosions (tests) A new 1/72 B29? Or it could be released as a vintage classic? Airfix did raise the question of a B29 on Facebook a couple of months ago. Probably something none of us would expect. With the unexpected release of the Seafire and now this (assuming it’s a kit) it does make me wonder that they are either ahead of schedule with the new tool releases or that they are delayed and these are gap fillers?
  24. Just spotted this on Scalemates: Scalemates link See Jadlam have it as a future release for £67.45 per-order price
  25. Chris Brilliant job on a much overlooked subject, you are a master with the brush. Cheers Rich
