Actually, no I hadn't... never noticed it till you mentioned it. I take it that it's the one with the stylized wheel on the end of the lever closest to the cockpit wall ? I have not checked out anything more than finding the picture (way too busy building !!), no real idea what the various levers are for just yet. Thank you for the comment and the info ! Greatly appreciated. Cheers Vaughn

Hello again, It's been a while sense I was on the board. Between vacation and loosing my password, not to mention the security case sensitive bit, getting on this site has driven me almost bananas. !!!....anyway I'm back and again, I would like to thank all who gave advice and help. I'm not yet up on how to post picture on this site and I'm far too busy to deal with this at the moment but I would like to say that the build is very much under way and the build thread is over on largescaleplanes.com. in the ' A Trip to Russville' memorial group build. I hope you'll drop by and have a look, I'd appreciate your opinions and comments on what I'm doing. I wouldn't be this far along without your help. Thanks much ! Cheers Vaughn

Hey Dave Great suggestion ! I pulled out my old Revel Tiffy and the wing panels are close enough that it is worth kit bashing ! I think this is going to save me tons of work. I remember reading in a model mag many years ago of a guy who kit bashed this and used the rear fuse of a Bf-110 for the rear of the fighter (building in 1/72, he used the old Monogram kit) On my trip home in a week or so I'll dig out my Revel 110 and check it against the drawings. Cheers Vaughn

Thanks Steve The drawings do have a few fuse station outlines so now that I know they are good drawings I'll have something to run with. That exhaust... I'm wondering was is squared off or was it a rounded tube running back ?... an odd setup and I wonder if the fighter had reached production/squadron use would they have reverted to the open exhaust stacks as on the Lanc or Beau ? Hey Edgar I contacted them several years ago and have been following several threads on the M-20. Not much more info than I already have from them though they were very prompt and helpful. Cheers Vaughn

Thanks to all who replied and for the links/info. Pictures will be coming in about a month as I'm going away for two weeks this coming weekend. I have to build a vacuformer for the project as well but I'm hoping to be working on the Spit nose within 3 weeks. I have an 'Aerodata International' soft cover book on 'Bombers of WWII' some of the drawings of the of the Lancaster include the engines. Anyone know if these drawings are good ? The other thing that bugs me is the pics I've seen of the Lancaster show the exhausts exposed or with a shroud over them, but on the pics of the M-20 the exhausts seem to be buried in the cowling with just the stub end emerging... any info on that set up ? Was this some special kind of exhaust that was tried out on this fighter prototype ? Thanks again Cheers Vaughn

Hello Jerry I've asked around and no one seems to know of a conversion kit or anything in the works. It will be a project in itself but well worth it. I intend to do the master and vacu form it, don't really like working with resin. The Idea of a Whirlwind with those big chin intakes.... wow, that is an interesting idea ! Cheers Vaughn

hanks to both of you Edgar and Steve. As per the comment further in the thread are there any issues with the drawings (if you know of course) ? The cutaway I had already scammed from the net, but thanks. The site with the color plates is awesome, the first look at the underside of the wing I've seen. Thanks Much !! Cheers Vaughn Awesome, Thank You ! Those under wing drawings are the first I've seen. A great help ! Cheers Vaughn

  11. Greetings All I'm a newbi on this board and forum, though a life long modeler. I'm gathering info for a 1/32 scratch build of the Miles M-20. Needless to say info on it is hard to come by on this side of the pond and I am hoping you guys/gals can help. I have the Aeroplane monthly issue from 1978 which is what started my interest in this aircraft far too many years ago. I've done some research and verified that there are no surviving drawings of the aircraft so I'm basing my plans off of the published 3 view from the Aeroplane publication. What I'm looking for are two things, info on the cockpit and the engine cowling. They used standard Miles parts for the cockpit, so I assume it would be a Miles Master trainer cockpit with the instrument panel and controls modified for the Merlin engine. Does anyone out there know where I can find drawings/pictures of a Miles Master cockpit ? The engine used was the complete 'power egg' from the Landcaster or Beaufighter II complete with cowling. I'm going to be scratch building the cowling, using the nose of a spitfire as a starting point. I have a question though...I know the cowling is wider as the exhaust pipe runs either just flush with the surface of the skin or just under it. Does anyone have drawings or can explain this to me. Any help would be appreciated Thanks. Cheers Vaughn
