  1. I find this subject very interesting. I think I would have to agree with assumption that the squadron codes could well be MSG as that would likely be available being a main camouflage colour. Regarding the spinner, I read an article somewhere about RAF Mustang 1s engaged in low level opps experimenting with camouflage. Apparently the spinner and ocean grey areas were over painted with a darker green to make the aircraft less visible at low level. I wonder if this idea had spread leading to sky spinners on some Typhoons being painted over in a dark green as they mostly operated low level, at least in combat. The article suggested this lead to the standardised black spinners and removed sky fuselage bands of 1945. Colin
  2. Really nice model, well done. Actually just found a new to me picture of yellow 10 and it clearly shows yellow tips to the tailplane so you are correct in what you have done. Colin
  3. Thank you Graham and Dave for your speedy replies. I want to build a reasonably accurate model of an A5 from that period so ideally would like to be able to see the unit emblem, aircraft code and werk nummer, particularly with respect to style and position and any variation from standard. I believe all A5s of this period would have the early non armoured glass two gun B stand, or rear cockpit gun position, and also a simple rudder witout the balance, these features would be desirable. Dave, I dont really have a great preference for which unit, although KG 51 and KG 77 have pretty impressive emblems and would be nice, but more interested in a clear view of an aircraft and its individual markings. Thanks very much in advance and sorry to ask so much of you. Colin
  4. Hi All I am trying to find reliable profiles and photographs of a Ju88 A5 during the Battle of Britain. I can find lots of A1 pictures and just as many wrongly labelled, but nothing conclusive with an A5. Does anyone know of any books with such information please. This is actually for a 1/8 scale RC model so forgive me if Im intruding, but as an ex plastic modeller I know its you guys who are in the know. Thanks for any help you can give. Colin
  5. Recently a superb reference book titled "Romanian Fighter Colours, 1941-1945" by Dan Melinte and Teodor Liviu Morusanu has been published. This has a section showing camouflage and markings of the IAR 80 and 81, as well as the other fighter types used by Romania during WW2. An excellent book for modellers with colour profiles and stencil details on some unusual types. Interestingly, revealed in the book, the camouflage colours of some IAR 80s were RAF Dark Earth and Dark Green as supplied by Cellon, the UK paint manufacturer of the period. The book can be bought from Amazon. Colin
