  1. I'll look at my kit when I get home..... Glad to hear you decided to keep the kit!! Tim
  2. Why is it a pity it isn't 1:24 scale? Tim
  3. When I was assistant manager at Beatties in Bristol, I remember having quite an argument with a customer when he brought back an AMT truck kit, where the trailer sides were moulded in silver plastic, and there were flow marks highlighted by the pigment flecks in the plastic. I could not convince him they were not cracks and would vanish under the paint, even predicted any kit in silver plastic would exhibit the same marks, then showed him an Airfix airliner kit (caravelle, I think) and sure enough, when we opened the box, there were the flow lines. He was determined upon a refund though, so we gave him one. No pleasing some people. I'm waiting for someone to take back a modern plastic aircraft kit, because the tyres have gone flat....... Tim
  4. Some excellent progress being made here! I have been working on a couple of similar projects, but I am lucky to have access to some industrial strength kit and materials, but the principles are EXACTLY the same! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234975299-did-anyone-ever-do-a-vac-in-132-of-the-hawker-sea-hawk/ Watching this project with great interest, and I wish you all success with it. The potential for this sort of process is just infinite! Tim
  5. Hi Kag, no, I always intended it to be 32nd. Someone over on LSP mentioned 24th, I know not why, and I had to make that clear!! I stick to 32, and anyway, the bigger scale parts wouldn't go on our vacformer!! It might be a little while before I get back on this. Unless my 6 numbers come up tonight, in which case tomorrow, I'll be looking for a little airstrip in the country with a small hangar and a workshop..... Tim
  6. John was refering to a little project of mine! I started all the CAD work, and then got swiped of my motorcycle, which put me back a bit!! I'm just about to start raising funds another project, a proper injection moulded 1:32 T31b Cadet training glider (have a look at http://www.flyingstartmodels.com for more information on that, but here are some pics of the Sea Hawk so far. Not much I am sorry to say, but there are only 28 hours in a day... Loads more to do yet,, as you can see! Hope this is of interest, Tim
  7. Thanks guys for the responses. I'll get hold of a 415 kit shortly. The moulds could have had inserts, but that might mean the original was cut to allow the new section to be let in. Nowadays with CAD, they could design the mould in a modular fashion right from the start, but as the original mould was made some time ago, I doubt that is the case. Thanks for the pointers ref bases too! Tim
  8. Hi, I just picked up an old Heller CL-215. I just wanted to confirm the Italeri 415 is a rebox of the Heller 415, but does this mean the original tools for the 215 were modified, so no more 215 kits? I'm off to Spain for a motorcycling tour shortly , so any pointers to where I might see these beasts in the flesh, would be very gratefully received! I'm in charge of route-planning, so I could easily put some likely waypoints into the TomTom! Ta in advance, Tim
  9. Remember, when someone declares a kit is 'unbuildable', all they are saying is THEY can't build it. This tells us a whole heap more about their building skills than the relative qualities of the kit in question....... Tim
  10. Photos? Damage report? Combat report? Did the AIM9B have a contact or a proximity fuze? Or both? Or, presumably in this case, it didn't matter as neither functioned. In which case, the missile could have struck the aircraft anywhere from the rear hemisphere. Just because it was homing on the tailpipe, doesn't mean to say it actually struck the tailpipe. It could easily have struck the fuselage further forwards, or a wing, or tailfin, or tailplanes, or even a drop tank if carried. Remember, these things are called MISSiles, not HITiles.... Just saying. Tim
  11. Bloody brilliant! Making models of models! Awesome!! Tim PS If you got a Matchbox 32nd, and an Airfix 24th scale models, you could REALLY mess with someone's mind..........
  12. Very nicely done, although I might be biased, I have that very aircraft in my Air Cadets logbook several times!! Tim
  13. If you do end up ordering from overseas, maybe go the other way and order a heap of stuff, maybe with some friends items too. That way, you still have to pay the VAT, but you only have one handling charge to pay, which is then spread over several kits. I recently had a couple of WNW kits arrive, in a single box, and had to pay £28 additional charges. I should have ordered 5 or 6 kits.... Although I would then have had a bit more explaining to do at home. You just have to balance these things up sometimes!! Tim
  14. Ah, that explains it, Colerne was the first one for me. Happy days... Tim
