  1. Well the latest teaser surely suggests a Whitley, I dont think anyone foresaw that
  2. Yes that would work. Also if you turn the left hand fuselarge upside down you get something which could be a Shakleton rear end togeather with the high mounted tailplane, the fin which i think is too small could be a tailwheel but this would blow out my tip tank theory. With regards the image of the 14th i think the beaufighter is nailed on if you enlarge the image you can see the wingtip light through a gap in the wrapping and the bulge for the wing mounted rockets can be seen under the red snowflake. The nose is from another kit i think I can see a shakleton in it again but this may be a bit too far fetched. O&P.
  3. I tend to agree with trickydicky the wraped models are mixed up immages, if you put the wings on the left on the fuselarge on the right you get a Wildcat it is mid winged so unlikely to be a strikemaster/provost. There is something very wrong with the "wings" on the right hand model the aspect ratio dosnt tie in with any aircraft I can think of and they are very rectangular. could they be the tailplane of a Shackleton, this could explain the tip tanks also.
  4. O.K thats the final push I needed Would like to join this group build with a Bristol 138A research Plane
  5. Hi Cupar, can I join the build with a novo version of the Frog Comet 4. Regards O&P
  6. A bit of a slow start with this but it is under way. Used two pack epoxy to make the cabin windows, there a bit milky the epoxy was time expired but looks better than I can paint and I havent seen any decals for the windows of this kit. There was a bit of warpage of the parts and the fit of the naceles will need a bit of working on but considering the age of the kit its not bad at all I am now working on thining the wing trailing edges and getting the engine nacelles fitted.
  7. Great choice Cliff I remember doing one when that box was new
  8. Hi Prenton B.K.S was a airline set up after WW 2 in the north east and is credited with opening up air travel to us oop north. The initials come from the surnames of the founders Barnby Keegan and Stevens. They were absorbed into B.E.A and ultimately British Airways in 1973. Because they flew into my local airport, Viscounts were the first aircraft type I became aware of probably from this very airline. The kit is a remake of an old Hawk kit which I think is an American manufacturer and the scale was quite popular for airliners in its day Frog did a few types in this scale. I too have flown on a Vicount Belfast to Leeds in the ninties so as it was the first turboprop in service in the 1950s it was quite a succesful aircraft.
  9. I will be building the Glencoe Viscount for this group Build. Hope to finish it in B.K.S coulors
  10. Would like to join in with a Beaufighter 1f if it is o.k. with mods. Was opperational with 25 29 219 and 604 squadrons by the end of October but I have conflicting references As to the first confirmed victory
  11. Is a Hallifax conversion to Halton painted in civie coulours acceptable for this GB. If so I'd like to join in
  12. Nice work there Devilfish the undercarage is tricky on the 190.
  13. Thanks Mish and Milo it has turned out better than I had hoped though not so good close up. I have now finished it. The trickiest part of this kit is the undercariage I tried it on all ways round this still dosn't look right to me but looks about the best. Glad to see streched sprue was O.K.d for the build I added the W.T arial though having choped the brush to do the mottling I canot paint it. A few drops of no 27 paint in a lot of water made a fairly good wash to represents the exhaust staining Doras seem to be prone to. The canopy was my main mistake it's not a good fit but could have been sorted out if I had prperly dry fitted it at an earlier stage.
  14. Got the painting finished last night I really quite like these acrylics they just need to be approached differently to enamel. With some trepidation started on the decals, somehow I dont remember them being a problem 30 years ago but they seem to cause a lot of trouble now. I seem to have been lucky again they went on with no drama, hope they stay on. Just a bit of final assembly to do this evening when I have finished my homework
  15. This is the progress at close of play on the first day. totaly out of the spirit of the group build I decided to let the glue set overnight so I could tidy up the joints a little. This kit actually goes togeather very well so a only a little tidying with the file around the join lines the tailplane fitted, time to start the painting. First a mix of 65 and 64 on the undersides. Following advice in another post the well watered down paint built up in several coats went on very well No 78 on the top sides now going to give it an hour or two to dry before ading the dark grey.
