  1. that first pic is now my desktop pic for the laptop, and also the wallpaper pic on my phone there were a couple of 'hairy' moments up the park, but i was lucky lol
  2. yep, am absolutley chuffed to bits. SWMBO thinks its 'nice' though lol. now all i need to do is practice photography to do it justice
  3. I finally managed to get it done. Its been the longest build I've ever done (almost 2 months in all) but what an experience. Here are a bunch of pictures, taken using my camera-phone, SWMBO's digital camera and my digital camera. Some are from inside the house with artificial light sources (the living room lights lol), some are taken outside using the camera-phone, otheres taken up a local park with SWMBO's camera. When I get a nice sunny day, I will go back up to the park and take more, final pictures. The build itself was perfect. The only hassle was the quality of the kit decals. I did a lot of scratchbuilding in the engine to add wiring and tubing etc, and did some extra work in the cockpit too. I will be getting this kit again, and I will be doing even more detail work to that kit too. I've learned a lot on this build, and cant wait to add to my skill set further. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Andrew.
  4. sorry there were so many pictures, but believe it or not, that was after sanity checking some of them and binning others i took. when i get around to posting a submission article on here, it should include some better quality close ups of the cockpit etc.
  5. finally got her finished. took some pictures on a poster background earlier. will try and get better pictures over the next few days, in a local park with a view over the town. fingers crossed the weather holds, and the batteries last longer in the camera..... :soapbox:
  6. thanks fella, i really appreciate the comment
  7. well, she's 99.9% done. need to add the IFF aerial and rearview mirror, pitot tube and the little probe in the radiator mouth, and the cockpit canopy pull handle and thats it done. here are a bunch of pictures as she stands at this moment in time. when its ALL done, then i will take pictures of much better quality etc.
  8. this is the effect i was trying to simulate/duplicate
  9. ok, decals are on, and just need a chalk sludge wash to bring the colouring in line with the rest of the paintwork. used the stencils from the kit as the Aces of the Empire sheet didnt have any. the stencils went on without any issues whatsoever ironically. the phone camera takes a slightly better pic that shows how well the victory productions decals 'sucked' down into the panel lines. i can see the finish line coming over the horizon ...................
  10. fingers crossed should be finished, or at least 99% done. and the new decals went on like paint. just brilliant application. only snag i had was the spent cartridge deflector bulge under the wing. its like an egg and took ages to get it to settle. when it did it looked great, but in retrospect i shoulda used microset/sol on it i think. cest la vie. will be putting new pics on here in a few minutes too.
  11. here are a quick handful of pictures taken earlier today. used my new phone to take the pictures. took the shots after the main markings were on, will be trying to get all the decals on by the end of today if i can.
  12. there is nothing wrong with what i see, looking real good.
  13. i have fella been messing around with oil paints and the like. will bring the tamiya spit tomorrow and others in the following weeks
  14. its a bit darker in the flesh. what i was going for with that propeller colour scheme was a replication of the fuselage roundel (if the prop spins then it looks quite good . i know as i put it in my drill before i glued it on lol)
