  1. This sort of thread inevitably becomes a personal wish list, rather than some objective attempt at market analysis. There's nothing wrong with that, this is a chat thread, but I doubt that 95% of the new tool suggestions made here will see steel in the next two years. Airfix have the benefit of actually knowing what sort of subjects sell and on the basis of what they released recently I think (regretfully) it will mostly be 1:48 and 1:35, which are scales I don't generally do. I'm surprised they haven't done a few more 1:32 cars, but maybe the recent Mini was to test the viability of some new modern ones.

    Getting married!

Tips for marriage? Faithfulness and kindness; they seem to work well.
  3. So is the conclusion that this boxing is of an aircraft that might just have existed, but the markings given certainly didn't? I.e. the Luftwaffe '46 category.
  4. That's a very nice model of a tough aircraft.
  5. Join your home IPMS and then get entry to SMW as an IPMS member.
  6. Folks, it's lovely you enjoyed the show; thanks for your kind words. As announced, we can't use the same venue next year as it's being changed to exclusive police use, but we will be looking for a suitable Birmingham location and will be back next year.
  7. It will be great to see you there. Come and say hello. I'll be wearing a WMPSMS top with glasses and a greying beard answering to 'Stewart'.
  8. A reminder that the show is on Sunday. If you've got any questions about it, I'll do my best to answer them here.
  9. Parking There is a reasonable amount of free parking at the venue, but space isn't guaranteed; however, the Council car park at Cannon Hill Park, Queen's Ride South is behind the venue, with direct pedestrian access. £3 for up to four hours, £4.50 all day.
  10. Just over a week to go now. Final preparations made and we are looking forward to meeting you at the show. Open competition. Catering and bar. Admission charges will be cash only. Once inside, traders will have their own policies. The venue takes cards for the bar and catering.
  11. When Airfix subcontracted this product to me I was asked to do all the artwork for the box and the decal schemes. Although the box top isn't an exact copy, I used the drawings in the Squadron/Signal publications as a basis augmented by some good quality copies I bought from the IWM of their library of photos. While the Airfix kit has some inaccuracies, I feel they aren't really noticeable unless you are a Hurricane expert or holding it against drawings. To my eye the most obvious mistake (though relatively easy to correct) is the significantly undersized propeller. The kit builds well and I've seen some lovely examples turned out as shows. Airfix later re-released the kit as a Mk IIB with the Swordfish as an Operation Torch special.
  12. There is an article about the Canadair water bombers on the BBC News website: The Canadair water bombers battling Mediterranean blazes - BBC News It includes the film of the crash above. Very sad.
  13. It's the old business conundrum: is it better to sell a lot at a low price or a few at a high price? If you're an injection moulder you normally have to go for volume because of the economics of tooling and press set-up, if you're a distributor it's more nuanced.

  15. I wasn't aware that it was the council's permission to give. Do they have any powers over the exhumation and reburial of animal remains? If the dog is to be moved, I think Guy Gibson's grave would be a better place to re-interr him.
  16. Not doing Warhammer, it's impossible for me to know it's value, but selling it in one lot will inevitably reduce it's value as nobody will want everything that's in there.
  17. This is the first time I've seen one of these made up. You've done a very good job.
  18. "Special Attack" was the term used within the Japanese military. "Kamikaze" (divine wind, the storms that wrecked Kublai Khan's invasion fleets) was used by the WWII Japanese press, which is why it's probably the term picked up and used in the West.
  19. If a TV show increases sales that should feed into the share price. Share price is also shaped by 'sentiment'. If a company is getting good media coverage this tends to increase demand for its shares and so price, while bad media coverage does the opposite. The TV show tended to show Hornby in a positive light, so I would have expected some share price improvement. It's not happened, so maybe other things are at work, which others have mentioned above.
  20. Hornby's share price has been in the doldrums for months. I had hoped that the recent TV show would help them, but the share price says not.
  21. We need more models with working features! A great build. It inspires me.
  22. I don't know the ins and outs, but if I was given a 1 year extension to a lease by a Landlord to give me time to find somewhere else, I would assume I would be homeless at the end of the year and get serious about moving.
