  1. Looking for some help on colours for a RAAF 3 Sqn Mustang IV. I'm currently building the Airfix 1/72 kit and using the Red Roo decals for aircraft KH667, CV-P. The colour call out on the kit is different to what Red Roo suggest. I spent half the night trying to work out the ANA numbers to cross reference to Humbrol or Model Master paints and also to the actual aircraft. The issue I'm having is with ANA 613 OD. Some are saying Humbrol 155 OD, the kit says Humbrol 30 Dark Green, Model Master has an ANA 613 (2050) and the tones of these colours are all different. Humbrol 155 has a brown tone, Humbrol 30 is green and MM2050 dark green. I have also looked at other modellers kits of a RAAF Mustang IV and there is a variation in what green/OD was used. What are peoples thoughts on this and what have you used. Also what about ANA 602 Light Gray? Paul.
  2. Thanks guys, was thinking to do it as described, my concern was how to get around the surface shape and over the fin fillet to get a nice straight lines. I'll cut some Tamiya tape into thin strips and then seal it with the band colour to prevent bleeding.
  3. Currently building the Airfix 1/72 Mustang IV in 3 Sqn RAAF marking, but I need to paint the fuselage band. What would be the best way of doing the band. http://www.3squadron.org.au/subpages/Mustangs/D%20CV-P%20KH677.bmp
  4. I'm looking to do a diorama with a F-14 Tomcat in flight, firing an AIM-9 Sidewinder. What I would like to find out is, can a Sidewinder be fired while the aircraft is at subsonic or supersonic speed with the wings swept back. Cheers, Paul
  5. Looking to find out the size of the letter codes that were on the side of the fuselage of Lancaster's and also on the fins. Building the 1/48 Tamiya Lanc in 467Sqn RAAF.
  6. As I have said that I'm not a Luftwaffe builder, but there are so many variations and options to when & what colour was used. Looking at the Eduard and Hasegawa instructions for their Bf 109E-4/7 Trop they recommend GSI H-70, where Airfix are recommending Humbrol 31 and Tamiya is XF22:1+XF49:1. I was undecided between H-70 or 31, I went with the Humbrol colour as its my paint preference. Have put some paint down and it has a green ting to it. What are people thoughts on the recommended colour by Airfix or should I have gone for the Gunze paint.
  7. I'm not a Luftwaffe builder, so not sure of correct colour. Building the Tamiya Bf 109E-4/7 Trop as 2/JG27 North Africa. What would be the interior colour of the cockpit. Some say RLM 02 others RLM 66. I know they are both interior colours, but which one. Which Humbrol paint would be the closest colours. Paul
  8. I have a friend who is building the Hasegawa 1/48 F-4F and using the Syhart decals "50 years F-4 & 35 years F-4F". Looking to see if anyone has used this scheme on this kit. There is a large decal that goes on the underside of the a/c, but there as the 2 auxiliary doors that are open where the decals go. How have other overcome this matter.
  9. My question is could you build a RAF 1st Gulf War Tornado Gr1 from this new Tornado kit
  10. Hi all, I have started working on the Classic Airframes twin seat Vampire and have purchased the Flightpath set to go with it. My question is has anyone used this set, have photos, pros/cons with the set. All feedback appreciated. Paul
  11. Very nice finish and weathering. Well done! Only one thing the ailerons should be opposite to each other (one up the other down).
  12. Hi all, just recently purchased the Classic Airframes D.H. Sea Venom FAW.21. Searching the net, I haven't come across any P.E. sets for the kit. Does anyone know if there are any out there. Cheers, Paul
