  1. Hi What colours did you use for the exhausts? Was it Alclad or normal acrylic? Just starting one on these kits and looking forward to it...................and waiting for the 1/32! Cheers
  2. Hi all Can anyone help me find a kit of the Avro Shakleton, any version/mark will do? It's one of those aicraft that has always interested me it being an ex Lanc! Saw loads of them in the 70's flying around but they seemed to suddenly dissapear. Any help gratefully received.
  3. If my best was as good as 'not one of your best' then I would be a very happy man! Cracking stuff
  4. Hi all I got distracted the other day and some paint dried up in the cup and inside the airbrush (not the needle though). I have tried various methods to get it out but not doing very well. Is there any solvent to get the paint out? The paint was Tamiya Acrylic on a 50/50 mix. The airbrush does still work but the paint looks unsighlty and I'm concerned it may be clogging elsewhere. No-one tell me off for not concentrating please! I know I should watch what I'm doing! Cheers
  5. Hi can anyone advise me on using Clear in an airbrush. Can I use it neat or do I need to thin it for best results? Cheers
  6. Hi Can anyone help? I am trying to find out if any company makes a Merlin Helpicoter (AugustaWestland) in either 1/72 or 1/48 scale in any varient. Does anyone know of any? Cheers
  7. Hi Guys Just got my first airbrush from evil bay. It is an AB-130 from Everything Airbrush. Admittedly it only cost me £20 with a free hose, so I'm not expecting the dogs wotsits! It will do me to get use to and then if I'm happy and learning I will upgrade. My obvious concern is the best way to mix the paint. I know many have said a skimmed milk consistency but I was hoping for a rough guide to start with so I can experiment from it. Is there a percentage mix, such as 50/50 for Enamel, 60/40 for Acrylic? Any help would be gratefully received. I can't wait to get started, although expecting some disasters!! Cheers
  8. I am looking to build a model of H.M.S. Obdurate. Not sure where to look for a model of the Obdurate or an 'O' Class Destroyer that I can convert. Can anyone help? Please!!!!
  9. Can someone help with regards to Model Master Paints? I have just bought an ICM Bf 109F in 1/48 (nice kit). BUT, it gives Model Master paint numbers and no matter how much I try, I cannot find out what alternatives there are. In particulat Tamiya. Can anyone help? PLEASE!!
  10. Thanks for the info on that. Now I know why they are selling it at half price! Revell don't seem to have the greatest of reputations except with some models. I have heard and read that the 1/48 Mossie is ok as is the 1/48 Eurofighter. I will prbably spend a bit more and go for another make of Mustang, maybe in 1/48. Unfortunately my better half would kill me if I bought Trumpeter! Cheers
  11. Hi all looking to get the Revell 1/32 Mustang, mainly because it's half price in Hobby Craft at the moment!! Has anyone had a go at it and what are your thoughts, recommendations? does it need much work and can I get improvements for it! Cheers all. P.S. Anyone going to the Gloucester IPMS show on Sunday?
  12. Having been out of the modelling world for a long time I find I am in awe of the skill that people have these days. And the quality of this plane is no exception! It does kind of put me off getting back into doing kits again! And using an airbrush terrifies me. Any recommendations wish AB to buy with a limited budget? Fantastic kit!!

A great help, thanks for the info. Must get a new kit to try it on.

    Washing!

Thanks, I think I will get a range of materials and see which one I feel comfortable with. It's great that there are so many people out there willing to help. I appreciate it. My wife won't though as I'll spend more time at the bench! Tried to get my son into it but he hasn't got the patience yet. He just wants to dogfight with the finished models!

Thanks for the help. Gone to the link and looks brilliant and easy. Are the prices the same from them as their distributors? Which colours do you use for general aircraft work or do you have them all and mix to adapt?
