    latest build

Hi Not been on for a while. Here is my latest effort Dragons 1/35 Panther A. It is only my third AFV and seventh model, after returning to the hobby 5 years ago. Built straight from the box. The zimmerit was applied using fingers milliput and a small flathead screw driver. It is a bit thick in places The basic pattern is there but I know it is not quite correct however not bad for a first attempt. The painting was done starting with panzer grey undercoat , then salt chipping techniques applied and then dunkelgelb sprayed over the panzer grey All colours were from lifecolour. The winter wash is a white pastel stick rubbed on sandpaper mixed with water and brush painted on. I had run out of white paint. Various washes and pigments to finish off with Overall my best effort yet only problem I had was not putting F*****g tracks on first instead I put them on last not a good plan Please feel free to comment all are welocome Martin

  4. Thanks for all of your comments Here is a question I would like to ask. I have three WW2 German AFV's a TIGER (P) PANTHER A and a PANZER IV Question:What colour scheme was/is used for the interior of WW2 german AFV's specifically door hatches, Turrets etc. Cheers Simmo
  5. Here is my latest effort 1/35 Tamiya Cromwell This my second effort at Armour my first being a tamiya challenger 2 please feel free to comment. Simmo
  6. I hope its not eduard because I have the A5 and the fit is terrible from the cockpit tub to the engine bulk head to the wings halves. It demoralised me that much I put it back in the box before I binned it. I will try again when I have the patience to hve another go. Martin
  7. This my latest model Hasegawa 1.32 Fw 190A5. Built out of the box apart from true details cockpit which I wish I had not bothered. the true details cockpit I found to be very brittle and even after sawing sanding and filing still did not fitted as I thought it would but there you go wont buy that again! Painted with tamiya paints and aztec 470 brush There are decal markings because the decals I had put came to a unfortunate end when handling the model I forgot about the setting solution I had applied. So they rubbed off and curled away to my horror. After much swearing and cursing and random death threats to anyone near by I have applied a "generic" set of decals of a unmarked a/c. I finished off using the model to practice my mottling and weathering skills. Although disapointed that I could not finish the model as I wanted I am pleased with the overall result and I think it passes the 6ft test. Please feel free to comment as all comments are welcome Martin.
  8. Hi My name is martin I posted a thread asking for colour schemes for a 1/35 Challenger 2 from Tamiya operating in Iraq Thanks for the help from those who replied Hopefully below is the finished project. The antanae are not as straight as I would like and the pic quality is not as good as I would like but it was taken with my mobile phone a Nokia N73 Any all comments are welcome I am normally a plane freak but tried out AFV's to test my skills in a different direction. Ihave brought a Tiger(p) and a Cromwell to see if I like AFV's as much as Planes Here the pics below?
  9. Dont regonise the name He will be a fool if doesn't go for it . It takes a big man to realise his mistakes. Tell him to go for it and if HE gives it 100% he wont regret it. Martin

I should know this being a squaddie (inf) but are AFV's in general sprayed he desert scheme over the Nato green in theatre Any help would be great Martin
  12. I speny 23 years in the 1st Bn The Royal Anglian regimentand left them as a CSGT last year(They are currently on war fighting ops in Afghan) I re-enlisted in Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS) and work out of Deepcut. Its a job and money for old rope? plus its so my family can finish off schooling and concentrate on their careers now that mine is done. As we work shift work during my time off I can devote some of it to the hobby Simmo
  13. Just joined today My name is martin and here are a few pics of models I have completed. The P47 is the latest. It is a Tamiya 1/48 scale. The P40 and ME109 are both 1/32 scale. I look at the standard of some of the models I have seen on other forums and I can get a bit demoralised however if I can achieve those standards then I have something to aim for. I use Tamiya paints and a AZTEC airbrush and compressor. These are the first models I have ever used an airbrush on and I am generaly happy with the results. I build straight out of the box apart from harness or entire cockpits. I have 6 other models to build including 132 scale P51 FW190 and 1/48 scale EE lightning, Buccaneer and Eduard FW190. I also have two 1/35 scale tanks a challenger 2 (next project) and a Cromwell tank. These I hope will test my skilss in a different direction. On a personal note I have served 23 years in the British Army and currently serve in Surrey. I build my models out of my son's cupboard in his bedroom(when he is out obviously). Its the only place the long haired general will let me. Anyway enough waffle please feel free to comment Martin
