  4. That's the reason I didn't get the seafire then! - my second choice- a Sunderland arrived yesterday.......
  5. The Model shop in Northampton has them for £29.99 according to their website. I think Airfix club members get a further 10% as well tho' not sure if it applies to this offer.... http://www.modelshop-northants.co.uk/
  6. I asked Airfix for some replacements for a 1/24 Hurricane and they arrived within a couple of weeks. Try giving them a call .....
  7. Hi Couldn't tell you for certain how long it took but I got it on June 23rd and it s not a massive project ( would be if you added the pe stuff I guess) The most time consuming bit was the painting pf the aircraft. The ship itself fits together really well except there was a bit of warpage on one of the hull sides that took a bit of fixing with some super glue.. Detailers could realy go to town on it - as i said I restricted myself just to adding some representative railings - not at all accurate as they were from a 1/400 Heller Tirpitz model....... Regards Steve Looks great from here as well. How long did it take to finish?
  8. Never done a big ship before but when Monty76 was selling this the other week I couldn't resist. Totally OOB build (with the addition of some spare and totally wrong railings here and there 'cos it looked bare without anything and I can't do fiddly PE stuff!) There's loads of stuff wrong with it BUT I had a blast building it - most fun I've had modelling for ages!! http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc397/...er/DSCF2339.jpg[/img][/img] http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc397/...er/DSCF2338.jpg[/img][/img]
  9. Lancaster low heading south over Northampton at 19.05...............! Wicked
  10. Nice pictures - My father was there in 1944 - just after the previous tennants left in a hurry.....
  11. My father - In the RAF as a shoemaker by trade but with the servicing commandos for D-day - told me that it was a mad panic to paint the stripes on their Typhoons before they went over - anyone and everyone had to help out and they had to resort to floor brushes and rags tied to the end of poles instead of paint brushes .....
  12. .........another Dominie has just gone over (12.53) - exactly the same heading. Any ideas anyone?
  13. Two black Dominies flying south west over Northampton - I thought they had been retired................
  14. Awesome pics - I feel a visit to the stash coming on...
  15. Went for the SMER one in the end off ebay and if it comes out anywhere remotely near to what Davis acheived I'll be happy!! Arrived today and looks scary..........
  16. Very good day out. Had to leave after the Victor run but saw planty of action. Trouble free getting in - and easier leaving as we went at 3. There were a few stalls selling models but wasn't tempted - only with a few cheap PM models for my lad to have a go at ... Only minor gripe - there was always a queue for the five porta-loos! Great day tho' and the unpublicised 'fly pasts' were and added bonus..
  17. Ok - Have suddenly the urge to build a Swordfish and can't justify the the cost of the Tamiya one or the 1/32 Trumpeter version. Seems the only option is the ancient SMER moulding......How bad is it and with reasonable skill is a passable model acheivable?... Theres a couple on ebay at the moment with cheapish buy it now prices......but if anyone has a cheaper one for sale...!! Steve
  18. Two F-15s heading east at lunchtime over Northampton
  19. Meteor has just flown over Northampton in very close and slow formation with a high tail twin engine prop .........assuming they are on they way back home...
  20. Ta for that - havn't seen it around here before.....
  21. Gloster Meteor - with a dayglo tail flying north west over Northampton at 15.30 today - any ideas anyone?
  22. Just to be contentious - I have just picked up this months magazine and thought it a little bit on the boring side as far as kit builds go... A car, a spaceship, Tornado, two Harriers and a biplane. Theres yet another Valiant article and a lot of full page adverts and also there were great splots of ink on several pages that I don't think should be there. Lots of reasonable reference pictures if you want them but I would much rather see more modelling articles on a wider variety of subjects. (slight) Moan over
  23. Theres a few IM kit listed on here in odd scales.... http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php
  24. Hoping to go and taking my 7 yr lad with me - Is it hugely busy - like queues to get in etc?? ..
