  1. The more I see of this kit, the greater the disappointment I feel and am starting to worry if we can expect to see the same quality (or lack there of) from Airfix's Spit Mk.IX kit when it comes out... Airfix had a chance to give us a good, economically priced alternative to the Fine Molds series of 109s and they dropped the ball big time!
  2. James, wonderful looking Sabres! I plan to do a few of the early ones as well. I'll be PM'ing you for your words of advice. Particularly pleased that you posted pics of the Mk.4 as it goes to a question I posted over at the ARC and one of the resident "know-it-alls" (he hails from here) stated that the RCAF NEVER flew Mk.4 Sabres... Glad you have been able to demonstrate to the contrary. How did you find the Scoobie wings set? From all the pics of it that I have seen, it sure looks pretty rough - is that a fair comment? and it seems a touch on the expensive side. I have gone so far as to purchase a few of Hasegawa's 1/72 F-86D Sabre Dog kits with the intention of swapping wings - a little drastic perhaps, but they actually cost significantly less than the Scoobie wings sets! Nothing like going to extremes to do a project! LOL Again, superb Sabres!
  3. Well, if you are sticking with 1/72, there really is only one kit to buy if you want accuracy and good detail and that is the Fine Molds kit.

    At last

Which is good (I ordered one of the 109s to see what it is like), but the real question is, where is the Spit Mk.IX??? That's what I'd really like to see!
  5. Thanks Jennings. I was curious about that. I thought that perhaps it was the same or close to the Airfix kit. Does it come close (in dimension / shape) to any either of the Airfix, Hasegawa or Revell German kits? Guess next time I get out to Alberta, I'll have to take a measuring tape and stop off in Nanton.
  6. Just curious, has anyone taken the dimensions from Tamiya's 1/48 kit and shrunk them down to 1/72? I am curious as to how it would compare to the current offerings from Revell, Hasegawa and Airfix.
  7. Jonathon, can you tell me what Airfix's facebook site is? I tried searching for it, but came up empty handed. Thanks.
  8. Brian1, any chance that you have a link to this chart? I Googled The Small Shop EU, found a web site buy have come up empty handed in so far as this chart and tubing goes :-( Thanks.
  9. Thank you! Exactly what I need, much appreciated.
  10. Looking at order a few items from these folks and would like to get some feedback on them. Thanks.
  11. I hope someone here can help. I am unable to determine which is an appropriate tube size / diameter that would be a good scale (1/72) representation for the wing root and outer guns on an Fw.190A (MG 151s I believe). Thx!
  12. Any chance you can post some pics of the resin sets? There are a few that interest me, but I have never been able to find a pic to see exactly what they look like. TIA.
  13. Reading Wooksta's breakdown of the costs for this kit and such, would it not be less expensive to order one of these Lancs right from HLJ and eliminate the middleman (aka the importer)? I've done this on several occasions and even after shipping, I am still saving money. Just curious.
