  1. Would be interested to hear from the brush painters out there what their favourite brushes are? Size, brand...etc Thanks
  2. Thanks for the extra tips Tail Dragon, did you buy any other extras?
  3. Hi, I'm planning on building Mosquito KA114, one of the few flying Mosquitos in the world today. However I am unsure of what paint to use, I mainly use Humbrol so I was thinking 163 Dark Green and 165 Medium Sea Grey? However any help on what paints would best match the colours of the real aircraft seen in the photos would be much appreciated. I will be using the Airfix 1/48 kit and so far am planning on getting either the Aires or Eduard cockpit etch set and the Barracudacals decals, would anyone recommend or not recommend these or any other extras to improve the kit? Any advice on the extras and paint colour would be of great help and appreciated. Thanks
  4. How is the build going with this? I've only just come across the thread now but I have to say, it is the most impressive build I've ever seen, absolutely incredible!
  5. I recently built this B-2 so if you have any questions/tips then I'd be happy to offer any help or info. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235036846-b-2-spirit-modelcollect-172/&tab=comments#comment-3010181
  6. Thanks for all the nice comments! Back in 2009 at Abingdon airfield(Which is a short runway) in Oxfordshire I saw this exact C-17(ZZ174) take off directly over head, he pulled up directly over my head at the end of the runway!
  7. Unbelievable... Looks incredible Nice lighting as well
  8. One of my favourite aircraft and a great looking model, really pleased with it. Brush painted with Humbrol enamels. Slight weathering using a sharp pencil and eraser. Tried some interesting photography to try and make it look at its best. Let me know what you think. Any feedback would be appreciated. Does anyone know of a 1/144 C-130J Hercules kit? Basically the one the RAF has in service now. This and the herc would make a nice pair.
  9. Thanks Mike for the info and advice. What would happen if I just applied a matt coat will it fix the shininess of the decals? As it's a finished model and I'm really pleased with it I don't want to try anything I've never done before and end up damaging it beyond repair. If I was in the process of building it still then I'd be more open to trying new things. Which matt coat would you recommend? I think I've said this before on the forum but your MiG-31 is stunning! Great looking model of a formidable aircraft. There was a really interesting article on the Foxhound in AirForces Monthly last month. Worth a read.
  10. Thanks Steve, yes that is the case, it's only when the light catches the model, like in the photos do the decals really shine and look bad(unrealistic) Is there a particular Matt coat that you'd recommend? I'd just like to brush on a coat or if it's a spray can then just spray it on. Ethan.
  11. Hi there, I recently built a B-2 Stealth bomber and I'm overall very pleased with it however there is one issue that I'd like to fix with the decals. When the decals catch the light or if you look closely they stand out and shine like crazy! I think this is silvering. I would ideally like to have the decals and the airframe look like they are one and for the decals to have a flat matt finish on them so they look real, not look like shiny stickers that have just been stuck onto a model. This photo shows the issue, it's just from certain angles and when the light catches it the decals look horrible. If you look at the 3rd photo from above the model, the decals look great, so that's what I'd like the decals to look like all over, from all angles in whatever light. Is there a matt varnish/clear coat that I can just spray or brush onto the model and it will fix this problem or improve it? If so which one would you recommend? Thanks
  12. That MiG-31 is unbelievable! It looks fantastic. There's a really interesting article about the Foxhounds in the May edition of AirForces Monthly. I didn't realise that for quite an old aircraft they're so powerful(Both in terms of Air power and performance) and capable. Awesome aircraft (Even if they are the enemy!)
  13. Right, I think I've fixed the issue regarding photos, hopefully you can see them now! Let me know Thanks
  14. Hi guys, I don't know why but the photos on my B-2 spirit RFI thread don't want to show, what am I doing wrong? It's the dreaded photo bucket screen... I copied the DIRECT link from photo bucket into the Insert other media box. Let me know of any suggestions Cheers
  15. You could try this link: http://s1076.photobucket.com/user/EthanG12345/library/?sort=3&page=1
  16. Thanks for all the great comments guys! Really appreciate it, this is also my first model post on here. Probably the best model I've ever made
  17. I know, it's wingspan is insane! It has the same wingspan as the B-52! Unbelievable for a 1:72 model
  18. If you can't see the photos, try this link : http://s1076.photobucket.com/user/EthanG12345/library/?sort=3&page=1 Let me know Thanks
  19. Built! Check out the RFI thread: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235036846-b-2-spirit-modelcollect-172/&tab=comments#comment-3010116
  20. Really?!? Have I posted the photos incorrectly? I just copied the Photobucket direct link in, they're there for me. Thanks, the wingspan is 73cm! Brush painting was particularly difficult over and around the masked areas, the underside isn't as sharp as the top but still decent.
  21. Overall incredibly pleased, very good kit, there were a few tricky bits where I had to do some DIY but overall very solid and easy to build. Expensive kit though! I studied a lot of photos of the B-2 and pretty much each of the 21 aircraft is different(Different panels, shapes, shades of grey…) So I didn’t outright copy one plane, I kind of created my own finish on it using lots of inspirations. However I did go for a more ‘patchwork’ finish rather than going for a plain finish. Have a look at these photos of the B-2: http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/18410/usafs-controversial-new-plan-to-retire-b-2-and-b-1-bombers-early-is-a-good-one https://wall.alphacoders.com/by_sub_category.php?id=207234&name=Northrop+Grumman+B-2+Spirit+Wallpapers http://www.centcom.mil/MEDIA/NEWS-ARTICLES/News-Article-View/Article/1055160/air-force-refuelers-enable-b-2-strike-against-daesh-in-libya/ Let me know what you think. Any feedback would be appreciated. I used normal brushes, a lot of masking tape, Decal Set(Blue), Humbrol filler and Humbrol enamel paints(85/191, 123, 125, 164, 156) I also have photos of different stages of the build if anyone is interested. Also thanks for the tips people gave me on here. If you can't see the photos on here then try this link: http://s1076.photobucket.com/user/EthanG12345/library/?sort=3&page=1 or. https://www.flickr.com/photos/153908328@N02/with/41618131611/
  22. Thanks, I think I'll give that a try. Will Humbrol enamel paints be alright? Does it have to be matt black, satin or anything else? I'll try with whatever I have.
