  1. Not much to report on this one. I had started to lay down the gloss white and mask for the lower fuselage colour when I found out that I needed to fill a four of the rear cabin windows for a QANTAS jet. I'm also still waiting for the vertical stab paint to dry fully before masking up the leading edge. The part built kit was minus windscreen, so I broke out one of my BPK replacements ready to modify it for fitment when the time comes. And finally just for fun a balancing act with the nose weight fitted.
  2. Lovely job, first time I have seen the skis fitted to a Chook model.
  3. G'day Matt, Another welcome from the north eastern suburbs or RAdelaide. I dabble in civil stuff occasionally but mainly aircraft, as other have mentioned they are a great bunch here with plenty of helpful tips.
  4. I've had them for a while, the started one was given to me by a friend and ACTSMS club member and the other sold to me by another club member for about $20 as I recall a few years back as he was downsizing his stash and knew I had a thing for 707/KC-135s.
  5. Some progress, the windscreen section was added and masked so I was able to prime the fuselage. The vertical and horizontal stabs were also painted
  6. Well 25+ years in Canberra and only 2 years here so far. If City of Wollongong was on the sheet it would have been the one!
  7. The JT scheme was the very first scheme applied to 707s, it has gone through a couple of iterations up to the one I am doing. The one prior to the one I am doing is represented in the decals in the first post I made in the kit box which is a modification to the JT scheme (title font mainly).
  8. The gear legs are now on and I managed to cover up most of that blue plastic
  9. The cockpit has been finished and installed along with the 35gs of nose weight I had also primed the fuselage exterior prior to added the cabin window strips, then the fuselage was buttoned up The rear fuselage flying surfaces were assembled Here are the decals I am using, I will be building City of Canberra (VH-EAB) or City of Adelaide (VH-EAF).
  10. So here we go, I took the started one out of the box to recall how much had been done, more than the 25% rule me thinks! On with the new build, for such a big kit there are not that many parts or assembly steps (page 1 of 2) Starting with the cockpit I could not resist adding to the parts count with the FE and Nav stations The fuselage interior got a splash of Tamiya silver (it's all I had on hand) I decided to paint the cockpit walls grey So we are off!
  11. Yes, All P-8s initially come out of the factory in the same config. To be sure just check some images of RAF P-8s and compare with USN/RAAF to find any differences. I don't think you will find any except for the markings.
  12. I decided to confront the masking demon And attach the engine fairings/under carriage bays to the wings The gear legs were de-flashed and are ready to attach. I also have the cannibalised wheels from the Airfix kit which I think I can make fit. Finally the engines were attached (props temporarily fitted)
  13. Thanks Cliff, Big is the word, here is an in work E-8 I built a few years back with a Spitfire Mk1a for size comparison.
