  1. Well i tried glueing everything on first for a change. But I'll bear the different glue tip in mind, thanks. Its all painted and lacquered, but I've never polished a car yet out of the few I've built and unsure what to do with it next. Or what to use on it (light scratch remover I've read somewhere). I'll have a look what I've got for my real car. From what I've seen people used the XR4i interior, but those kits are quite expensive and more than i want to pay just for the interior. But my plan all along was just to use the rally interior and class it as a fast road/track car. Im not skilled enough to make my own but as long as the exterior looks good when its sat on my shelf then thats all my focus is on.
  2. Following. Not so much the LWB conversion but I've been thinking about this van to go with either my Belkits Mk1 Escort or the Itareri Mk 2 Escort and do it as the rally team van.
  3. Thanks. I've built one before years ago but this one is going to be the road going version in Jewel Violet which I'm really looking forwards to seeing when its finished as in my opinion the best looking colour combination for an Escort Cosworth 😍 Well i decided on trying a different way and glued those bits to the car first. And thinking about it, this is the best way because trying to glue them on after painting the glue just makes a mess of the paint if you slip or dont position it right, so i finally see why people do it this way now.
  4. Do you install parts like spoilers, vents and mirrors first? I've always sprayed (rattle cans) them separately as you can do all sides/underneath evenly which I think will look better after assembly as you dont have to worry about getting spay well into the gaps etc, then I glue them on afterwards. But recently I saw somewhere that someone attached everything first, now I think I've been doing it wrong lol. And after looking at this the person I bought it from has started it and marked the bonnet out with pencil for where the light pod goes. Which I'd never thought to do and would have sprayed it on the sprue like any other part.
  5. I have got two Tamiya RS500s (well ones in the post) and just ordered some Moonstone Blue for one of them. But i have these models because i could never afford a real one now lol
  6. I did wonder about the primer. I've got plenty Tamiya primer left so I'm definitely ok with that then? Just about to order the spray and just couldn't resist buying another Sierra RS500 so i can have a Moonstone Blue one too.
  7. Wow thanks guys. I never thought about using real car paint on a plastic model There you go, stuck in my ways of building a few Tamiya cars, using Tamiya spray paint
  8. Thanks. I did think that, but when I see all the other introductions (most being quite lame!) I like to make well constructive and informative posts
  9. I've got a Tamiya 1:24 Escort Cosworth coming from Japan and my plan is to do it up as to what I think is the best colour and version of the Ecos. The Monte Carlo Edition in Jewel Violet. But I want to know how to achieve, or get as close as I can to this colour using rattle cans? I'm only an amature and only ever done a few cars with Tamiya sprays, but there's nothing even close to this colour. But I'm guessing with the right primer, and using various colours a close match could be achieved?
  10. I'd like to get into weathering, but once I've built a model 1) I like it as it i all new and clean looking 2) I would be too scared of ruining it. I bought a Revell weathering kit and was thinking about trying to weather a rally car so it looks dirty, but i just can't bring myself to do it lol.
  11. Hi, I'm Andrew from sunny Lincolnshire. I've recently started building models again after only building a couple of Tamiya cars when I was in my teens (now nearly 40!). I'm only an amature but picking things up as I go along. As a keen car enthusiast and gamer, thats what my models are based around. I've always been a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, and I absolutely love Metal Gear Rex. So i began with Kotobukiya's snap together kit, which I settled on gun metal grey. Then I decided on a car, and stepping my game up from a snap together kit And as I drive an Evo V, I went in search of one to do a replica of mine.. I came across the Fujima Evo V so bought one of those, but as I changed a few things on my car like the wheels, it ended up getting left half finished. So I ended up getting the Tamiya rally version next, and I bought two so I could do one of each but I also bought the Evo VI as its the only road version so I could use the interior out of that in my rep. But I've still not got around to doing a scale version of mine yet I just want to get better and use all the skills I learn to make it look really good and not mess anything up on it. But here's the rally version. Then I found one of my all time favourite cars, the Mk1 Escort from Belkits. I wasnt a fan of the Jim Clark rally version so I wanted to do it as an RS2000. I messed the colour up on this tho, and used a grey primer instead of white, so it wasn't the bright orange I wanted (like the interior as you can see) but I'm still quite happy with it considering. I've also bought the Italeri Mk2 Escort but thats in the stash while I decide on how im going to do it (i.e as the rally version or as a road/track car similar to the Mk1). I'm currently on with a Nissan Skyline R34 as my dad owns this one. But I'm not having much luck with the wheels.. (bought some Fujima ones to find they dont fit, then found a Tamiya Porsche GT2 car that comes with them on, but as they are staggered I've had to cut the rears down to fit, then I snapped off two pegs test fitting them!). Also in the stash is another of my all time favourite cars Still undecided whether to do it as the Texaco which I do love and is iconic, or as a moonstone blue road/track car, or buy another one and do both but this one was expensive enough! Then I've just bought the Tamiya Escort Cosworth rally car today from Japan and I'm looking forwards to doing that, which is the car I first built all those years ago but this one I've already made my mind up on how I'm going to do it
