  1. It is a 3500 book military library I inherited from my father. Oldest book in the collection is from 1715. Covers just about every war, with emphasis on WWII, Vietnam, and of course military aviation.
  2. 1.3 METER R/C Fw-190 Flown by Ace Oscar Bloch. My collection runs from the 1940s-1980s, but majority are from the 60's, most beautiful box art period!
  3. I remember that and the Monogram B-52 both on the main shelf at my towns hobby store around 1968-69? Let me know what you find!
  4. Probably the Gakkan large scale Bell 47 G-2. Only made and sold in Japan 30 years ago?
  5. Nice Job Russ! The 261st had an interesting but short life during the battle in and around Saipan. Even arming them as bombers for anti-ship attacks. This is mine in 1/18 scale. Same bird in this original photo on Saipan. All the intell guys seemed particularly interested, but why? Even tagged for further study. See antenna.
  6. Didn't you want a 1960s Hobby Shop in your house when you were a kid?
  7. I had to get this through Japan, so shipping really added to the cost. If you were in Japan, the kit with free posting was about $1750. The Agora Zero, 1/18 scale, is about $1300 dollars and is available in Jolly Olde England. You can buy the complete set at once. This kit is a bit more difficult to build with a very high parts count. But for modelling enjoyment and an eye catcher, you just can't beat it. Stay away from the Spitfire and Lancaster big scale kits.
  8. Nuyen Van Bay's aircraft, the NVAF called them "snakes."
  9. Really nice job! Cyclic grip makes the kit shine.
  10. The engine was actually recorded from a an F-2's General Electric F110. Both starting up and spooling down.
  11. Hello every one! I just completed another year long build, the magnificent Deagostini F-2 Viper/Zero in sea camouflage. This aircraft fully functions! With great features, or "gimmicks as the Japanese like to say." This kit is only available in Japan, but through guile and ingenuity, and subterfuge you can get around those barriers. The cost of this model, to include shipping, is pretty substantial for those on a budget. But what you get in return is a years worth of modeling that is shear enjoyment, and worth the investment. The kit is multi media, primarily metal, and PVC plastic. lots of screws and Crazy Glue. I really love kits that come alive, and this one does! Even the control pad is nearly scale. The weapon load is huge, and with magnets, you can swap out the mission load daily if you want! On to the video and pics!!!!! Hope you like her. Night Fly!! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT! Weapons galore!! Near scale throttle and stick grip
  12. Its a 1/24 scale F-2 Viper Zero from DeAgostini.  I get the parts from Amazon Japan each month..

  13. Kit decals were pretty good. But I had to use some spares to make it look like the one that I flew in the mid 80s.
  14. From one helicopter builder to another, beautiful bird!
  15. Update: At the NIMCOM 11 contest, in Chicago a few weeks ago. Won a Bronze Medal. The Editors at Fine Scale Modeler Magazine were kind enough to photograph it and include it in their on line magazine. Not too bad! Charles Schlom became a U.S. Army aviator and chose to model the helicopter he trained in when learning to fly, a TH-55A Osage. He started with an AMP 1/32 scale kit and added a heater blower and seat belts. He airbrushed the heli Model Master Russian Orange, masking the large windscreen to keep it clean. The wooden base has a Coastal Kits tarmac on top. To complete the scene, Charles added a figure of his instructor (left) and him (right) based on a photograph of the two during a training session.
  16. Very Nice rendition of a Ft. Rucker Bird. Spent a lot of time in these. These were used in Huey Contact Phase, Instruments, both Basic and Advanced, Night Flying, NVG Phase and Tactics. They all had troop seats however, and carried normally two students and an Instructor. And of course many a beautiful Florida girl knew the orange doors!
  17. This will also help your build. This is the exact aircraft AMP used to model the TH-55. First is a useful video that I used a lot. Wait for it to load. https://www.net-maquettes.com/pictures/hughes-th-55-osage/ Nice stills: https://www.facebook.com/USARMYTransportationMuseum/photos/pcb.1476403825789901/1476403555789928/?type=3&theater
  18. That was the Huey, UH-1H that would be my primary helicopter. A true classic that could do everything!
  19. You won't be sorry. If you have any questions, you know where to get a hold of me. These will be helpful: http://www.fortwolters.com/FW - Flipbooks/TH-55 Manual/mobile/index.html#p=148
  20. One helicopter I always wanted to fly! Love the early 60s color scheme. When you get a chance, look ahead and check out my AMP 1/32 TH-55 trainer.
