Back in 1988 this is what I did with a Testors (originally molded by Hawk) T-33, I used a scrapped Monogram P-80, along with a second Monogram P-80 kit and installed the cockpits, butted against each other, removed the main wheel well and fitted it into the wing of the T-33. The nose wheel well was more of a drop in fit. It says something about the price and availability of the Monogram kits back then, I don't think I'd do that today. It may not be entirely accurate, but it beat any 1/48th scale T-33 kit available. The second P-80 was donated to another modeler, and he made an in-flight desk model from it. I eventually gifted the T-33 to a friend, because he commented on it every time he saw it. Those are the original kit decals, by the way.

Another option would be to blank off the forward cockpit and make it a Ryan Sportster, I don't know if any of those were ever manufactured with floats, though. I built the kit many years ago in the US markings that came with the kit, I have another that I have been thinking about making a single seater and doing it in the markings of the "British Fighter" from the movie 'Dive Bomber' starring Errol Flynn.

Nicely done. I, too, built the Monogram Typhoon a few years ago, there are pictures on here somewhere. I went a bit further than your OOB, rebuilding the cockpit and wheel wells. I also corrected the problem with the rocket fins.

I did all that on a Heller with the exception of using the kit canopy, carefully cut apart with a razor saw.

Which box did the email come to? If it was your junk email folder that would be a dead giveaway. Also move your cursor, without clicking on it, over the hyperlink and see what shows up. I used to get emails purporting from Ebay and they looked absolutely genuine. However, none of the hyperlinks in the message actually worked, except for the one at the very bottom of the page and it was one that ended in .ru, which meant it originated in Russia.

Very nice! As it happens I built the same kit many years ago as a nostalgia build, the only mods I did were the same as you, drilling out the ends of the barrels and exhaust pipes. And I was fortunate enough to find a kit with Frank Luke's markings.

Well, in the case of the kitbash that I did, I had to change out the radome for the simple fact that I was using a Monogram F-4J as the starting point. The F-4C radome that I used as a replacement doesn't have the pre-amplifier bulge that the D does.

As others have already said, it's easier to make an F-4C/D into a B than the other way round. As it happens I did just that, using a Monogram F-4J as the donor kit , removing the kit radome and replacing it with a F-4C radome. Slimmed down the upper and lower wing bulges and replaced the main wheels with resin ones of the correct type. From the spares box came stabilators, catapult bridle hooks and the side curtain for the rear cockpit from a Hasegawa kit. I have a WIP thread about on the forum somewhere.
