  1. MrsG says no to the white tunics so brown jobs it is. I may just select the regiments that didn't change facing colour and they'll cover the whole napoleonic period. 🤔
  2. Here we go again oo-oo-ooh! Newline's latest offering of Grenzers. Now all filed and primed. And drilled Onwards ny children!
  3. My little group of Cuirassiers is finished. They're in facings of red, blue, green and black so cover every regiment in the Austro-Hungarian cavalry. Regimental differences would just be in button colour and in the one case a darker shade of blue. Not the best figures I've had to work with which is probably due to them being an early production for Hat. There are 32 due to one sprue being KGL Lt Dragoons and a couple of malformed horses didn't help in another box. The Zvezda replacements I used fit in pretty well though. Enough prattling. CHAAAAARGE!!!!!!!!
  4. My gardening is completed, Capability Brown would have been chuffed. A sneak preview. Once the PVA has dried and gone transparent I'll get the horses filled. Now, where did I put those Grenzers
  5. I've been flocking the bases so it's gardening next. The Riders are pleading to be unimpaled too.
  6. Finally they're ready for facing colours
  7. Have you considered that that's a not her that the not you is sitting next to?
  8. Who's the speed painter now? Did you clone yourself Jim?
  9. As I started painting this 24 I decided the previous 8 weren't good enough so I'm painting all 32 Cuirassiers. This tends to slow things down a bit and I'll probably be sick of the sight of them by the end. It's a break from repotting my collection of carnivorous plants anyway. En avant!
  10. You can't go wrong with camels Jim, they're always impressive. Now you're making a silk purse out of a camel's ear
  11. As hoped the horses are done. Now for the Cuirassiers. I get to impale 24 of them tomorrow
  12. I have nine of the horses to this stage The blanket rolls need sorting and then they're just about done. Hopefully I'll get the other 15 to this stage tomorrow
  13. Nicely painted Jim. You made a silk purse out of a sow's ear. That rammer will never fit that bore
  14. Now I'm confused they're all grenadiers so which grenadier had the flesh painted?
  15. The previously started regiment were getting in the way so I prepared all four bases and used one on these. They're now drying in the flock. With four bases of this size going to need grassing in a fairly short time I set to making a couple of tufts in different lengths, colours and size. These are also drying out. Now, back to painting.
  16. I have done a 36. That started to get a little tedious by the end
  17. Two coats of Mocha on the horses and two coats of Linen on the sheepskins. Time to step down the brush size.
  18. I've finally exhausted my Newline Designs Austrians so it's the turn of Hat to supply the Cuirassiers. ( I had the boxes in the stash already) This group will represent three regiments so then I will have all the facing colours of the Austrian regiments, the buttons then being the only distinctions. I already have a set in progress with red facings. It may take a little longer to complete these with the higher number. Two of the horses were deformed on the sprue so I've added a couple of Italeri ones. The fore and rear legs of the rest had those straight bits of thick flash between them so I've recarved the lot. Primed and ready to go. I've not taken the Cuirassiers off the sprues yet, I'm saving that as a treat as I'll be impaling twenty-four of them at one go. Oh joy!
  19. Here's my little band of Hungarian Hussars ot the 5th Regiment Ott (later Radetzky) Some of the horses are still a little dusty from flocking so please bear with me. And next up on the table will be.............?
  20. Almost there. I've applied the braid, it's not perfect but it'll do me. Just a bit of touching up and the oakleaves to sort and then it's basing time. It's a pity they have to be in campaign uniform, the crimson parade breeches would have given them some punch.
  21. Brave Men's Blood: The Epic of the Zulu War 1879 - Ian Knight is a good start to get to know what we British were playing at in Southern Africa.
  22. Did I ever mention that my brother is a Zulu? I have his shield and assegai
  23. The horses I believe are finished. Progress on the Hussars is slow and at the moment looking somewhat untidy. That'll sort itself out as more paint is applied. MrsG has been informed that she may need a pair of ear plugs when I get to the braiding on the dolman and pelisse.
