  1. Thank you gentlemen, Good information! Thank you for the number of Fool's Paradise IV, Laurent. I have looked a good amount of photos searching the AAF.Spec.Proj. numbers in them, and I have noticed the correlation to certain sub-types, TO's and dates. Now they get an explanation. It is sad there are probably no systematic listings of the numbers as Gingerbod said .
  2. Hello Friends, I am making a .svg file for printing custom decals for a couple of P-51D Mustangs. I have information enough to make also the most visible stencils. including the relatively large text block under the cockpit on the left side of the fuselage. I know the text is but there is one thing i need more information. On the first line there is an interesting series of numbers: “AAF SPEC. PROJ. NO.” (followed for example: 92710-R) Now I am asking if anyone who have such a knowledge, can kindly tell where I can find these numbers? I think they are some kind of block numbers(?). There are a lot of listings about all P-51 sub types serial numbers but I have not found anything about these “aaf spec.proj.numbers”. This is certainly NOT a big thing but I am curious if I can get a correct numbers to the decals. The number can be read from some close ups of the aircrafts, but unfortunately there is not such photo of the items I am building. - One of the models is by the way P-51D-5-NA, A9-A “Fools Paradise IV” I am building it from Eduard’s nice 1/48 kit. - Some of us probably remember the old Airfix 1/72 model from 60’s. It was my first kit… Thank you for advance and Happy New Year!
  3. Very nice you had the right means to take a photo. which shows the new tool Eduard canopy and the Tamiya canopy. I know the Tamiya canopy is more "blown" and it looks very good! The main purpose of my comment was to tell the people who dont have a possibility to use Tamiya canopy, that the new Eduarsd canopy is - like you said- "good enough" now! - I have also several Tamiya canopies. Also when I looked through several old photos from ww2, I think the blown Focke Wulf canopies were not all exactly similar. some were more, some were less blown. The basic shape was anyway the same.
  4. Hi, The model is VERY attractive and nicely build with a great skill! The Tamiya hood is also one of the best I have seen in 1/48 FW 190 Late war models. One thing, anyway. I have all models Tamiya Fw 190 F, the "old tool" Eduard Fw 190 A-8 and the "new tool" Eduard Fw190 A-8 model. I compared the blown hoods of themall and I noticed Eduard DID correct the blown hood in the new tool models. It is now clearly higher and the contour of the top of the hood curves nice down to the windscreen like Tamiyas hood. The shape of the hood is now much more correct than the earlier that was indeed flat. Unfortunately I didn't find a way to take a good photo to show that but anyone who has both hoods can see the difference between the old one and the new one. I do not say it is as "blown" as Tamiya has but as said, it is better than the earlier and looks very good.
  5. I foud one picture from the setI wastalking about: The ammo panels are just abut visible but it can be seen, it is"short"
  6. No, unfortunately, the walk-around I have is taken outside in bright sunlight. 🙂 The one you sent, is very interesting too. I have to try to find tthat walk-around by myself. I think I have downloaded it from some page where the whole walk-around was as a.zip file.
  7. The panel lines look to be right in Modelsvit's P-51H! I looked quickly one walk-around of P-51H-5-NA, (44-64331) and the photos show clearly the ammo bay panels are "short" exactly like in the model. Unfortunately I do not have the website address of the walk-around anymore. I have downloaded the walkaround photos for myself few years ago. - Anyway, in many books the drawings indeed show the "long" panels like the P-51D has. That seems to be a wrong conclusion. Antti
  8. I am sorry, all modeller friends! I used my photobucket - though I knew the free account doesn't work. Silly me! - At least it worked about an hour.. I have to change the site..
  9. Hi again, I dont know why the text is so spread in my message but it looks readable anyway. I am not sure if the P.R.32 should be more curved but in my opinion it looks quite good now. The XV wing tip follows the original wing lines. In my drawing I made it without modifying the aileron - though in some photos it seems to be like that. On the other hand, e.g. the Modeller's Datafile has a drawing in which the XV aileron is not modified - who knows? AnttiV
  10. Hi, I promised to send my drawing about the wingtips; here it is. all dimensions are in millimetres and in scale 1/48
  11. Hi, Thanks a lot for your replies, modeller friends! Perhaps I wasn't too specific with my topic, indeed. I'll try to send my drawing to show how I see the shape and measures of those wing tips. - The link about the built model is very good! But... even in the photo of the P.R.32 included at the page I still see the shape of the wingtip following the little curve in the end of the aileron, not like it is done in the model; the N.F.XV the aileron seems to be changed straight.. as far as I can see from some good photos in Internet. I will send my drawing with shapes and measures I can estimate ASAP. Of course this is a very little detail but.. it is interesting! AnttiV
  12. Hi, Obviously my question was too difficult - or too trivial - because no one has had anything to comment it. I know I have the AMS aka Advanced Modeller Syndrom. LOL Any way, I have been searching more information and I found a Polish publication "Wydawnictwo Militaria Nr 157 De Havilland 98 "Mosquito"". In this book there are drawings of most types showing the wingtips and camera openings etc. So together with all the photos I have found from Internet I am now able to make a conclusion of the lenght and shape of the wingtips of NF XV and PR 32. I also made a scetch about them but I don't know what would be best way to share the drawing here with other Mosquito fans. Maybe you can help me in this problem? AnttiV
  13. Hi, I am going to convert Tamiya 1/48 Mosquito P.R.IV to the rare but interesting type P.R. 32. I'll use the new Pangolin 1/48 two stage Merlin nacelles and the extended wing tips I'll try to scratch build. My problem is that all sources I have say that the extended wing tips are like in type N.F. XV. (There is a drawing in SAM Publication's Modellers Datafile 01 Mosquito showing the wing tip - maybe not totally accurate but anyway; I have also a photo where that wingtip is clearly seen, so the shape for N.F. XV is known.) But in my opinionthe wing tip is different in P.R.32 because the wing span of the N.F XV is 62'6" and the wing span of P.R. 32 is 59'. A photo of P.R.32 (NS 589) shows shorter wing tip. Also the shape of the wing tip seems to follow the curve of the aileron. So has anyone of you real Mosquito expers any better knowledge about the extended wing tips like measures, shape etc.?
