  1. Sorry I don't agree with the cost reduction theory due to the cost of kits are going up and up. I should also mention for the cost companies are including details that won't be seen eg fan blades but miss something that will be seen like a seat harness.
  2. Just by looking inside the box. First off they pre drilled the wings which is fine if they included external stores which they don't and at $65aud I should not have to plug up holes just to build the kit box version. Yet their A-37 and Mig-21 I have to drill out the wings to add weapons so go figure. Also they mention external tanks for the L-39 on their paint guide but not in the kit. Also one decal option is annoying again for the price they could have also added a military version too. Sure these are simple fixes but its 2018 and should not happen. I did preorder the ZA kit to do the military version and this one as a clean trainer.
  3. I won't bother even if they make my favourite version the Mk 5 after buying their L-39 which was just poor design although a great subject.
  4. Thanks for the information. I guess having two means you can improve the modelling skills a bit.
  5. Hey all did Airfix ever issue two kits in one box? Or am I just lucky? Merry Christmas to all.
  6. History repeats itself. Just because its new doesn't make it the better kit. Tamiya and Hasegawa set the bar twenty five years ago and have really yet to be beaten. With the advances of technology this kit should blow the Tamiya kit out of the water but highly unlikely to happen.
  7. I would expect it to be a better kit than Tamiya's seeing as their Mustang is twenty five years old. However Tamiya set the bar and in some cases are yet to be beaten by other manufacturers. Its a bit like the Airfix Mustang in 1/72 good kit yes and really nice but better than Tamiya's? I would say close but not superior.
  8. You have to cut the tail or use an aftermarket tail for the Hasegawa kit. 1/32 is not my scale as I have a beautiful set of decals in 1/48 of Hurry Home Honey I would like to build without the use of cutting or modifying kit parts. I said that as more of a blanket statement and never stated Airfix in anyway.
  9. Unless it has the fillet less tail which sprue shots shows it doesn't I won't be rushing out to buy one as its won't better than the Tamiya kit. Typical of kit manufactures these days release a subject that already exists yet isn't any great improvement or they miss details that the older kit had down to simply copying parts of original kit. I will keep dreaming to build Hurry Home Honey without a conversion.
  10. Wow that looks impressive, can't wait to see it finished.
  11. Like we need another P-51D! Only if it has the filletless tail then yeah ok but what I would like instead would be a new tooled P-51H, F-82 and a Piper Enforcer all in 1/48 but I can only dream. I didn't purchase the Meng kit as I already have enough Tamiya Mustangs and got them far cheaper as well.
  12. Fingers crossed the do some of the long nosed Phantoms or at least the British Spey Phantom.
