  1. Trevor If you have to brush Tamiya acrylics, get a bottle of the Tamiya acrylic retarder. Add a few drops (experiment with it) to keep the paint from drying so quickly and it will brush quite nicely. The same retarder also works with Gunze acrylics if your hobby store still stocks that. In a pinch, the Tamiya acrylic thinner works too, but if you brush across a spot too often, the thinner will remove the underlying acrylic paint (learned this from experience). peter
  2. I've also been saving yogurt foil tops and have lots lying around. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you work with it. I really like your simple idea for making the buckles. So obvious now that you point it out. peter
  3. David, Thank you! It *IS* small. I found it partially wedged inside one of the folds at the bottom of the box. peter
  4. Is the 1/76 Airfix male ww1 tank (http://www.airfix.com/airfix-products/military-vehicles/tanks/a01315-wwi-male-tank-a01315/) suppose to have a decal for its name (HMLS Dragonfly). The box top and instructions show the the name, but there is no mention of a decal or decal placement or even a decal. Is one suppose to paint it on? peter
  5. Looks beautiful. Haven't seen one yet here in colonial Vancouver, Canada. Will have to add it to my older Airfix/Frog/Matchbox Swordfishes. Airfix is really challenging me in not buying retail when the kit first comes out, what with their 1/72 Canberra, Hawk 75, Zero, F-86 ....Arrrgh. Someone's wallet is going to get a hurt'in... peter
  6. I've got one on the go right now. The part about the landing gear is very true. Hyperscale had an article comparing Tamiya, DML/Trimaster 190As and they also mention the problem. This is a very good article and mentions a few other things that I won't bother changing. The gear doesn't have the forward rake (angled forward) when installed as is. The gear legs also are supposed to cant inwards. Once canted, the wheels are not perpendicular to the ground so some work has to be done to change the stub where you insert the wheel into the gear strut. Also with the rake, the gear retraction strut apparently won't be long enough to reach the gear strut (or conversely, reach the gear well). In summary, not a quick build, but still buildable with some effort. peter
