  1. Begemot produce a couple of shets of Su-27 decals including this one available from Hannants Begemot 72026
  2. The UK importer of Microscale - Hannants - have been out of stock of several Microscale products including Kristal Klear, Micro Set and Micro Sol for some time and are waiting for a delivery from the USA. Alternatives are Humbrol Clearfix and Revell Contacta Clear.
  3. The original grey scheme for the Harrier GR.7/9 was 2 greys, Dark sea Grey on the upper fuselage & wings with Dark Camouflage Grey on the undersurfaces and sides. That is probably the scheme Hasegawa are suggesting. Later on the aircraft were painted in overall Medium Sea Grey. It is often very difficult to see the the demarcation line between the 2 greys in the early scheme. If you look at this image on airliners.net Harrier ZG861 3 Sqn You will see the DSG on the cockpit framing, upper fuselage - you can see the demarcation line at the top of the intakes - upper wings and rear fuselage and uppersurfaces of the tailplanes. The rest of the aircrat including the fin is in the slightly lighter Dark Camouflage grey
  4. XV302 was in the wrapround scheme when I saw it at North Weald in June 1985
  5. After the Guideline Publications book Camouflage and Markings No.1 RAF Fighters 1945-50 UK Based came to the conclusion that the trim was blue, Scale Aircraft Modelling published a letter from someone who had seen fifteen of the 19 Squadron aircraft at Acklington in July 1945. 3 aircraft had coloured trim under the anti-dazzle panel and around the cockpit canopy. These were reckoned to denote the squadron leaders and flight commander's aircraft He recorded KM272/QV-V as having yellow trim with "Dooley Bird" in red. KM193/QV-J with blue trim and KH742/QV-A with red trim.
  6. The Sea Kings were BS381C 633 RAF Blue Grey. If you want an enamel paint then probably the best version is the Sovereign Hobbies paint https://www.sovereignhobbies.co.uk/collections/colourcoats-sea-british/products/acrn19-raf-blue-grey-bs633
  7. They closed down recently - here is a link to the September 2023 announcment. The owners have retired. https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/specialty-press-closed.42130/
  8. The usually very reliable Modeldecal quote RAF Blue Grey BS 381C 633

    RIAT 2023

We left about 1:30 this afternoon because there was no real chance of getting any photos in the appalling weather conditions but they were running a flying display. The Saudi team, Saab Gripen and French KC-135 all flew
  11. As somebody who works in the model trade the answer is yes the basic gloss enamels do outsell the camouflage colours. The gloss colours are used for all sorts of tasks. Taxidrivers use gloss black to touch up scratches on the vehicle bodywork. White, cream etc are used for similar touch ups on domestic appliances such as AGAs, worktops and electrical white goods. Cyclists also use the colours to repair scratches on bodywork. All sorts of outside objects are repaired with Humbrol enamels, doors, window frames, fences, house number and nameplates, garden ornaments, gnomes. Gold is frequently bought to touch up gilt picture frames. As a modeller who regularly used Humbrol enamels I miss several of the colours that were withdrawn last year but from the retail point of view they did not sell in large quantities.
  12. This is the UK version Modelcraft Modelling Putty You will get it in Wonderland Mdoels but they are out of stock.
  13. I have the Wingleader book on the Stirling IV/V and they quote the serial of the aircraft in the first post as PK148
  14. There was also this thread on the Texan colour https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235119895-bs106-royal-blue/
  15. Do you mean a pick and place tool - something like this Modelcraft medium pick and place
  16. While the Mil Spec enamels were not affected by the prblems with Alclad USA, I think they are now also out of production. If you go to the HR Hobbies website and look at the RAF colours as an example, there are only a few colours from that range actually listed and similarly the Luftwaffe colours listed are only a fraction of the range. I have just checked a few other suppliers for the Mil Spec paints and there are very few listed in stock anywhere.
  17. Hannants have this item https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MMS016
  18. Alclad UK changed their name to HR Hobbies as the US-based Alclad business had trademarked the brand name and the UK business could not longer call itself Alclad. Following the re-branding, HR got a further complaint from Alclad that the HR product names and catalogue numbers were the same as Alclad and had to be changed to distinguish between the two different brands. Rather than re-work the products again, HR Hobbies decided to stop selling the paint under their own name. They now supply the paint in bulk to Mig who retail it under their name. Once shops sell out of stock the HR brand will disappear.
  19. The first batch is expected into the UK in early November.
  20. 1/72 Sway braces were made by True Details. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/true-details-72713-aircraft-sway-braces--376851
  21. Modeldecal sheet 94 had an option for ZE292/CA of 5 Squadron which is still in stock at Hannants.
  22. THe UK importer for HK models is Bachmann. Why not try their customer services department Bachmann Customer Support Contact
  23. The Buccaneers have been supplied to model shops by Hornby in individual boxes of the type you got. This is standard for larger items from Hornby such as Railway and Scalextric sets and now seems to happening with kits. It is all designed for the mailorder business, the retailer simply has to put on the address label and send it out.
  24. Humbrol will supply the Safety Data Sheeets for any of their products - just send them a request by e-mail. Humbrol have a series of"how to use" their product videos on their youtube channel - this is the Decalfix video and I have just had a quick look at it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7Ywau87mo4&t=1s At about 1:50 they recommend wiping away any excess Decalfix immediately after the decal has been applied. At about 3:00 minutes there is an interesting comment about using Decalfix on top of their Clear Gloss Varnish. They say that as both the Clear the Decalfix are ammonia based then the Decalfix should be diluted with water to prevent it damaging the gloss finish.
