WOW! Not a bad link at all! I may use it in future. At present it's time for more wip photos..I modified the look of the prop to the better I hope.. For the canopy I used the squadron vac.Real trouble to cut out and grind it to the right shape. I changed the direction of the ailerons INCORRECTLY as they are in the Museum exhibit. Thankfully the elevators look right on the Harvard.. The model is starting to take shape. I scratched the control rods.. Here's the point where the Harvard will get some rest in its box until it gets painted. As for me, I had to move to the second model in the diorama. Beast, as the nickname was. Curtiss SB2C Helldiver is the guy and in the Museum is the C-5 type which called for some modifications to the Accurate Miniatures kit. Just a couple of shots..Work started from the underside of the cockpit floor..Although I'd got the Eduard set I used plastic to replace most of the p.e. parts, something that you'll see happening quite often in this kit.. Thank you guys! I don't use a lot of tools. I try to keep it as simple as it goes. However, my favourite are the Minicraft,the olfa circle cutter, the punch and die set, the Tamiya extra thin cement and of course I'd die for some more styrene! Well,let me go on with the project.. The fuselage halves got glued together Then I finished with the seats-I thought I did at least! Hmmm, Fresh attempt..I wanted them to look like they are in the Museum.. The Italeri wheel struts looked awful so I had to do sth about it.. The tailwheel which had to look flat and damaged as in the exhibit was scratched That's all for now. No, they are from the Eduard set. Thank you all for your comments! Here are some more wip photos..First, the two fuselage halves were glued togeher.. ..I scratched a new carburettor air intake duct and sanded the control surfaces which looked quite thick.. ..I didn't like the look of the flaps so I decided to make new ones.. ..I also sanded the cowling to the right thicness.. ..I also did not like the look of the wheel bay.. ..In most cases P.E. parts are not my cup of tea and that shows in the photo below.. Hi all,I have already started an ambitious project in 1/48 scale on four propeller airplanes which are situated in the Hellenic Air Force museum just three kms away from my house in Tatoi, northern Athens. In the museum there are a lot of planes, both propeller and jet ones as well as many other exhibits. To my interest is a DH-82 Tiger Moth, an SB2C-5 Helldiver, a Harvard and a wrecked Bristol Mk IV Blenheim. The first three kits of those planes have already been started while I'm still considering of taking the risk to build the wrecked Mk-4 Blenheim. The diorama will also include a part of the internal and external structure of the hangar,a well preserved 60-inch .G.E. seachlight and some smaller exhibits The name of the place where these planes are stored is called "Leros hangar" for reasons that may be not so interesting for the forum.I have started the Italeri kit for the Harvard and I have finished building the cockpit in which I have added the Eduard p.e. parts as well as some personal details. I have tried to depict the look of it as it is at the moment so you should not be alarmed if you see some strange things there!Here are photos of the w.i.p. as well as the hangar itself.
