  1. <Content Removed> Sorry chap, but you're in the wrong place, and as a new member you're not permitted to use the Wanted area, so I've had to delete this post. When you have 100 meaningful posts it'll automatically open up for you, so if you've not resolved your issue by then you'll be able to ask there.
  2. Hi to you Epeeman. You gave me helpful advice on My Se5a which is at last finished. As a point of interest I used a 2:1 mix of Tamiya Olive Drab with Flat brown. Apparently this is recommended by Wingnut Wings the WW1 gurus and gives a more convincing finish than Xtracolour's RFC green Cheers Alvin
  3. A large scale Whirlwind, bring it on and please Special Hobby perhaps a Blenheim Mk1v as well. Does any one know if the HK Models 1/32 Lancaster is still a runner or are Hk backtracking ? Alvin
  4. Many Thanks Epeeman I think I have got a bit rusty with biplanes as the SE5a was the first one I have attempted since the big Trumpeter Swordfish which did turn out ok. Incidentally I tried both fencing and archery about 15 years ago and the archery won although nowadays I am very much a leisure archer with other hobbies more to the fore. Many Thanks again Alvin

Thank you Head in the Clouds I must now wear my best anorak so to speak
  6. Hello Epeeman I have been a member of Britmodeller for a whole 6 hours and would love to know which paint you used for the Merit Se5a. I have tried this kit and made a hash of it. I am a bit rusty with bi-planes and I think I got the inner struts (cabane ?) the wrong way round and that screwed up the rake of the upper wing. Was the parts numbering one of the kit errors or was it me ? I think fishing line is also better for rigging than those flimsy bits of photo-etch that they supplied. Another SE5a is on it's way,a bit etravagant perhaps but I hate to be beaten. Thanks Alvin

Hello everyone I hope I have used the proper section to introduce myself as social media is not my forte. My name is Alvin, live in Northern Ireland and am retired. I have built models since the days of Airfix bagged kits that cost 2 bob each. I am a member of the Northern Ireland Modellers Association, a motley collection of social misfits. I am lucky to have my own man cave at home for my various projects mainly larger scale WW2 subjects though finding space is always a problem - so what's new with that ? My main beef for which i make no apology is the bizarre fascination in the aircraft modelling world for so-called Luft 46 subjects, some of which never made it past the designers drawing board before the Russians kicked the door down. Therefore the best paint scheme for these kits would be blue and white - draughtsman's ink and paper. This seems to be at expense of various RAF subjects for which we have a limited choice. Anyway enough of that. I have read the article by Epeeman about the Merit Se5a. I have attempted this kit and got it wrong as I believe I got the inner (cabane) struts the wrong way round and the rigging was ropey (no pun intended). I have another one ordered, rather extravagant but I hate to be beaten..Epeeman if you are out there can you please let me know what paint you used. the result looks positively great. Many Thanks Alvin.
