  1. Hi there. Almost finished my blue roadster. I have followed your instructions for a removable rear but struggling with the mesh in front of side air intakes to the side radiators. There foul the rear as it’s removed. Any tips please on how you over came this issue? Thanks!!
  2. Hi all. A long break but started to build again at last. I have finished the rear and front body work now and have added led lights in both. But of a mission for a novice but they work and look great. I have break lights, head lights and daytime running lights as well wired up. Now I have started on the doors. Not far to go now. A few pics here:
  3. Hi dr fiat. I got a bit side tracked with with other priorities and progress stalled. But I'm back on it again now. Just had a few hours today fetling with the rear light led mods. I have them in and working now. Will post some pics as I try to work out the wiring routing. Need to keep the removable rear mod functional with the cables long enough but neat enough. Where there is a will there is a way! How's your build?
  4. Hi cookie. My tool list is not very fancy, usual model building stuff i suspect. A list of what I used is: craft knife fine sandpaper snips good set of magnetic screwdrivers small clamp to hold bits when painting/sticking very fine brushes hot glue gun soldering iron dremmel i was going to get a tap set but I have found careful tapping with a screw before assemble has worked well. As as far as advice goes I have read the work of others on here, people like roymattblack, codger, Danny g. Learnt a lot from their detailed build descriptions. One bit I did find out the hard way was lay out all parts first. I had built up elements with plastic parts only to find that there is a metal part to use instead or their is a roadster specific but I should be using. I guess making mistakes and correcting is all part of the fun tho.
  5. Hi vandellyn. No mystery paints. The bits you mention were all paint brush jobs for me with some masking or course. Here are the paints I used. A mix of spray and brush. I think the little tub is what I used for the wheel. It was hanging around from a cheap kit my son had and didn't finish so not sure what brand or colour it is. But it looks well on the car I think. Good luck with the interior. Really enjoyed that stage.
  6. Thanks cookie. Apart from the obligatory airfix spitfire as a kid this is my only build. Aiming for a quality job with what's in the box. No real after market additions, just paint and finishes. Oh and if the lights work that would be cool. Good fun that's for sure.
  7. Good point cookie. I have not planned that far ahead yet. By the time I'm finished it may be the perfect item for Father Christmas list!!
  8. It's about time I updated the last few weeks progress. A few picks below of the front frame and assembly plus the rear body and finally my very first attempt a electronics. Gonna get those led working if it kills me. Also took on the removable rear body idea as it's so easy and it enables all the hard work to be seen later on. Pics are a mix of a few big stages of the build. Most pretty satisfying. But fitting the lid and hinges was a pig if a job. Still wondering about how to route the wires with the removable rear tho. Watch this space I guess.
  9. I have the roadster in blue. Posted my build here. Have some progress not yet on this post as the rear body is assembled and I modified it to make it removable. Will have to get around to uploading the pics soon!
  10. The aventador is great in my experience. 50% through my build. Just starting some led mods. I can recommend it.
  11. A newbie myself but a couple of months into an aventador build now and sand prime and spray is the only way to get a nice finish I think.
  12. Thanks Roy. I really think removable rear is a must. All that effort and just to cover it up??? I do want lights to work intear though so I need to figure a way to run them and still remove the back. Any suggestions?
  13. On goes the air box, suspension components and upper frame pieces. Had to open up some of the fixing points in the metal pieces to make it all fit, first time I have had to modify stuff to fit properly so far. And getting the air box on around the framework was a tricky mission. But it's there and looks awesome.
  14. There is a build guide by paul koo that has a lot of images of the real McCoy in there that may do the trick.
  15. Next update. Have been busy with the paint and spanners and have a half finished engine assembly. Loved this tricky stage and could not resist test fitting to the cabin.
