Just goes to show they should have kept Abingdon open and closed Benson. Is Benson running a Mopedathon this year ?

Well best they get building at Benson then, when I left all 4 sheds were packed full. 230 will be living in tents on the airfield somewhere.

Was that PUFNI flight ? I was there 94-97, best tour of my career. Ended when some fool decided to send me on a fitters course !

SHQ has changed a bit since I was there ! Those things were all flying when I was there. Just as I left we were giving 72 a load of Pumas.

I know how you feel, I like a few others on here have the added burden of having worked on her. And I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this sort of thing, so I don't think I'm ever going to do the model justice, my skills just aint up to it.

This brings back memories, I worked on the HC2 Chinook when I was on 230 sqn. We had two to look after as well as our Pumas. We had one of the most expensive punch bowls in the RAF. A polished Chinook engine exhaust as the stand with a bubble window as the bowl -
As an ex Merlin man myself, that thing looks like a model T ford in comparison....... Lovely little helicopter's the Wasp. If thats the Merlins pitch link bearings that are made from Italian cheese...you can blame me for finding that one....along with the cracking cockpit consol brackets...
