  1. I'm still very new to scale modelling but my best suggestion would be to maybe experiment with plastic sheet to extend the wing chord to match the edge of the fuselage and hopefully that would work with maybe some scribing here and there as needed. I saw someone do this with the italeri 1/72 su-27k to correctly shape the area where the canards meet the fuselage. Just my two cents. Hope it helps
  2. Alright everyone I placed most of the decals on and tinted the canopy as best as I could. Markings are of VMFA-232 Red Devils from the Hase 1/72 F/A-18C box. Thought I would mix it up a bit just for fun. It is missing the ATARS rec system in the nose but im content with it as is. Still need to do some touch ups here and there, finish painting the armament, as well as the sub assemblies and slap them all on....eventually
  3. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone Its nice to be here away from all the dry heat back in California as well as joining the community filled with others interested in modelling.
  4. Afternoon everyone, so progress has been a bit slow lately I had to cover a lot of shifts lately but before work this morning, i had a few spare minutes to at least add a few decals to the Delta hornet. I feel like i went too heavy on the rescribing i was just worried that after painting with a brush it might cover the detail. Because of it being so deep now i didn't feel the need to attempt panel lining.
  5. Just a quick update, I went ahead and ordered the Twobobs sheet 1:72 F/A-18E VFA-14 Fighting Fourteenth Nr. 72-083. So once that comes in ill try out the Hi-Vis CAG markings and save the Lo-Vis for when I get the Hasegawa kit. In the mean time I will have to find some time to pick up a fresh jar of flat black paint as my current one has dried up somehow rats..
  6. Thank you! They both needed cosmetic surgery to their noses. Had to make my own IFF box on the superbug and the hasegawa hornet has a nose droop that needed a lift but I think I got it looking a bit more true to the real bird.
  7. Greetings gents, It seems I have forgotten to introduce myself so here goes. My name is Ryan and I'm originally from California but moved up to Vancouver Canada and was able to get into the hobby as of late 2015. I have always had a fascination with Aircraft particularly Military aircraft from both now and WW2. My father took me to a few airshows when I was younger and I happened to live next to an Air national guard base filled with F-16s taking off every single day for their practice drills. I built my first model at the age of 9 after seeing a 1/48th scale F/A-18A Blue angels sitting on the shelf in my local pawn shop and quickly begged my Dad to get it for me. As you might imagine at that age I wasn't able to build it properly especially building it on my own. All I had was the cement and no paint whatsoever but I was proud of it and displayed it in my room. It wasn't till now that I took the hobby seriously so that I could have something more productive to do rather than sitting around playing xbox in my spare time and I find it therapeutic at times and helps me eliminate stress after work. so far I have just been reading as many reviews and build posts to try and learn new techniques for when I build and so far I have seen a steady improvement. I will take all the advice I can get from here so please don't be afraid to tell it like it is and point out mistakes I look forward to meeting everyone. cheers.
  8. Greetings all, for my first post I wanted to share two hornets in 1/72nd scale that I have slowly been progressing on. For the Tamiya super hornet I temporarily placed decals for VFA-106 just for fun until I can get some from twobobs as the kit decals are kinda lame IMHO. I have only been in the Modelling scene for a little over a year now and hope to learn anything I can to improve, also forgive me as I seem to have lost the photos I took of the build leading up to here. Please let me know what you all think. Cheers.
