1/8th Scale Pocher Alfa Romeo Monza - Complete
tom2112 replied to Camwader's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
Phew, awsome work and phantastic pics. I love it! -
I don't know the Heller kit, but it is hard to imagine that the kit's parts are more detailed than those of the paper model. Knowing that will keep up my motivation during the build. Thank you for joining.

Thanks again for the kind comments. Some more work is finished. Preparations for attaching the side walls are in progress. The side walls are divided into individual segments that want to be brought together. The bow will be first. I've cut out the fairleads and am still waiting for the photo-etched parts for the portholes to be delivered (although I don't know if they will fit). In order to shorten the waiting time, the degaussing cable will be added as an etched part in the upper area of the ship's starboard side. Portside will follow next time.

Thanks for the kind comments and Jeffs hint with the number of pictures. A little progress is done. I drilled out the openings for the anchor chains and lined the chain tracks. When built in 1941, only the two longest chain paths were used, i.e. the chain closest to starboard was not used. Here I have already glued on the grid cover. Comes for the other two openings too. But here I still have to sand and polish a bit and fit the Trumpeter chain. I am going to use WEM etch parts for Hellers 1/400 HMS Hood, and some more like Micro Master 3d printed parts.

The ship in the background is also a papership in progress - part of trilogy SS Californian, RMS Carpathia, RMS Titanic (all 1/400). Work on Titanic has not yet been started, so I am working on these two fellows. Thomas

Adding the base for deck.

The start is done, skeleton is in progress. And done...

Though a lot of unfinished projects are lying on the workbench, this one couldn't wait to be started. 😄 Tragic "Mighty Hood" always impressed me with her elegant appearance. Because my favourite material is cardboard I didn't resist to buy model kit of polish firm JSC last year. The kit itself has been completely revised and released in 2022. Approx. 1600 parts (incl. templates) are waiting to be processed. Thomas

Hi Rene, phantastic job! I really admire your precise work and weathering. Kind regards Tom -
Excellent job! Love that used look.

Looks great! Love that paint job.

The exhaust pipes will be replaced by a metal solution, and I have drilled holes into the exhaust cover.

Couldn't wait that long and started to put together some parts like engine and suspension. I removed the chrome, which will be replaced by ALCLAD colors, with an ordinary oven cleaner spray. The kit seems to be quite detailed, but some more details will be added. I started with the rivets on the body. Those were taken from laser cut accessories of my cardboard modeling. Tom

After many builds of cardboard models I felt a real desire to walk downstairs into the cellar and open one those plastic kit boxes hidden in a corner shelf. Well, once opened my desire became strong enough, to start a build. I have chosen one of my favorite classic cars, a Jaguar XK SS, manufactured in scale 1/24 by Revell. Tom

This one looks great as well as the base. Thomas

Thanks to all for your really nice comments and likes. @ Steve: For the sea-scape I painted a sheet of transparent paper with different acrylic colours (blue, green, brown and a bit of white). The sheet was glued onto a piece of waste wood. The surface is an ordinary "sea foil", which I bought at a model train store. Fast and easy solution.
