  1. Wow - that just came alive !! Lovely Rob
  2. Not my area of interest but a Superb finish and weathering. Those tracks are fantastic Lovely model Rob
  3. Hi Ned - thanks for the input. Entirely possible - I followed the Trumpeter instructions and the Profile Morskie book Though this pic does suggest a twin Oerlikon rather than a Yagi antenna though I could be wrong. However to have had a second barrage director would seem logical and desirable. Thanks Fellas Appreciate that Rob
  4. I hugely admire the erudition and search for accuracy - take a bow It's what makes the hobby so satisfying (to me anyways) And that Bilge pump is a thing of beauty Looking forwards to more Rob
  5. Oh......... and as you are aware, you've made me want to build one! Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery Rob
  6. I read an old thread from @longshanks this week when he commented about @beefy66's build of Abercrombie... "Not exactly a thing of beauty, I hope her mum loved her ....." It made me laugh then and does now, and Boy do I miss him. Still an apt description of this vessel. Despite her original appearance you've made a Superb job of this Jon - each build of yours gets better. Flawless camouflage and finishing Congrats Rob
  7. Great to see this back Andy - the size becomes really apparent with the view of your sofa in the background - The deck sets off the Camo scheme - Fabulosa. I doubt the internal structure walls would have been painted camo As to the deck fitting you mention with hatches - should be possible to microsaw across and "reuse" the top with the sidewalls "rebuilt"? Rob
  8. Pete says it for me - Super then - super now Rob
  9. Hi - they come printed on paper - you then need to glue that to light card - cut out and bend - all of which frankly is a faff, expect to get one from every 3 you try - though everyone loves them on a model! Thanks Darryl - appreciate+++ Thanks Terry - you are very kind and since you ask......... Rob
  10. Beautiful dio - one of the best depictions I've seen of frozen ground Rob
  11. That is just positively showing off............I'm not going to even bother asking how you did the sequins................. Rob
  12. That is very gracious Steve - but I know where the true artistry lies Rob
  13. Thanks Stix - really appreciate your comments Thanks. Yeah - those water bottles Thanks Praise coming from you is always Praise indeed! Thanks Stef From your Hellcat you are already there! Thanks - it's the crux part of the model - the power of hairspray Rob
  14. I know this is really Nerdy but latex gloves seem to behave better than the Nitrile. However - you can't really get latex gloves easily now due to the problems with allergy Yeah - don't ask And by the way - have you thought of Modelspan at any stage? I'm due to try some formed sails at some point and it seems an interesting material If you are interested theres a a tutorial on You Tube by Tom Lauria Rob
  15. That is looking very swish - what did you use for the SCC15? Rob
  16. Every time I look in here - there is Magic happening and everytime I wonder why I even bother with my plastic asemblies. Steve, that Dollshouse is Tour de Force and the fireplace Let alone the boat - You do have a house elf I take it.................. Rob
  17. So with the RFI published.. Here's a quick build summary Amusing Hobby Centurion Mk.5 AVRE A lovely kit - fit throughout was flawless. The wheels lack inner rims and minor detail that resin offerings provide though in all honesty in hindsight it's barely noticeable. The barrel is reported to be slighly undersized and there's no canvas mantle supplied which I think is a major oversight, more on this later. Tracks need minimal clean up and do "click" together though there are failurres along the way. They are decently and accurately moulded. Highly recommended Scorpion-miniature models detail sets Kudos to them for producing some excellent detail sets fro modern(ish) British subjects, the Centurion being one. The canvas mantle and barrel set was excellent and for this lazy modeller gets extra marks in that no "surgery" is needed to fit it. DEF modle do on that needs some surgery. The enginie deck handles are a real "must" as they so prominent and I can never seem to bend wire acurately. The fishtail exhausts are things of beauty and the headlights and guards significanly improve on the kits (fiddly) originals. I also used pieces from their stowage set (For Scorpion/Scimitar) as the kit has a similar viintage to the venerable Centiuion AVRE ("Antiques Roadshow") All Highly recommended Painting and Weathering I'm a huge fan of Sovereign Colourcoats and have fallen in love with enamels - prefer spraying them now to acrylics though the caveat is to use Sovereign's own thinners. To my mind their Gulf Armour "Light Stone" is an accurate shade to the original. Detail painting for vehicle and figure comprised Vallejo and Lifecolor acrylic and washes etc were either Mig Ammo or AK, whatever happened to be in the basket. I particularly liked the Mig Ammo "Shader" in dirt that I used foro the first time and will definitlely use again Figure and Stowage Decent figures of post war British figures are thin on the ground. This came from Accurate armour and IMO is one of their best. Stowage was a mix of Value gear and spares box. Aerials were Accurate Armour Carbon rods (where would be without them!) Flags Were fromFC Modeltips that claim you can mould them "flapping". Not cheap and not entirely successful - mine stuck to the metal foil I draped them over So with a prolonged build time due to it being abandoned for a long period, it was nice to finish a piece of armour once again. Thanks for all the support likes and help. It's a wrap Rob
  18. Thanks Andrew - I appreciate that - logical really. I'm still mulling over "stetching" a tarp over a 432 top basket and how to tension the material - likely cut-up surgical glove. Rob
  19. Continues to look lovely - how original - to build from "the Box" Rob
  20. Agree with all of the above - a truly superb build - with lavish attention to detail. The framing on the Walrus is masterly as is the rigging. I must investigate stretched sprue - how do you get it so uniformly thin? Congratulations on an epic build - just wish there were more pics Rob
