Yes, I may have been a bit vague in stating that it was a "Hannants" Comet 4B, as a) possibly it is a 4C with the pinion tanks, and possibly also Hannants is reselling a kit made by someone else.
It is in fact an AIM Transport Wings model sold by Hannants, although it's not entirely clear to me if they are owned by Hannants or not. At any rate, I bought the kit from their website, as in the link below:

It is also definitely a 4C (after checking), so good spotting. I'm not very good with serial numbers and the like, so apologies.
Apologies also to Hannants if the kit is not theirs, but the principle is still that the kit was poorly made and the instructions were worse. As for the modeller, well...
Anyway, my intention was to present this build and its difficulties, in its present state. As I indicated earlier, I will go for a "clean up" of the model in March, which will involve a fair bit of filler, sanding, and printing proper decals.
Frankly, on opening up the box, I had the impression that the hit and decals had all been made sometime in the 70s or 80s. Does anyone have any comparable experiences? Or even a really good build of it (I'm sure it's possible)?
Best
Marc
