  1. Sorry for never updating some people in 2016 when i finished the build had some stuff going on and had to put it into storage. This was my first build where i'd follwed instructions, used photo etch and got myself an airbrush, every build before that was a slapstick job with brush paints and not much care and attention, this took me about 100 hours to finish. That might seem an awful lot to some but for me it came out how i wanted it. I've got all the supplies out again and im decided if i should do the kinetic su-33 or my airfix 1:24 hawker typhoon(apparently the typhoon is a looooong build)

  3. thanks flankerman i've ordered the complete akan set, i already used to mig 29 set so sure i can make use of all these colours again as i'm going to be doing a few builds, i'll be doing the 1:32 su-27 UB and another mig 29 in the future. One thing i've found about the akan paints is they seem to stick to the walls of the bottle and crust over meaning you can't see whats left, i'm tipping them into tamiya jars and they are fine. i think the plastic bottles are a bit rough on the inside or slightly porous. while i'm at it flankerman do you know of any 1.32 versions of migs 29's or su'27's that have a solid body colour? i want something thats visually correct but has a solid grey or silvery finish, did a quick google but most stuff always appears to have a camo pattern.
  4. On a side note this is only the 3rd build I've done since I was a kid and just used to slap paint everywhere without a care in the world. I've really put a lot of effort into this one. Lost count of the hours now. Granted it won't be as good as some of you guys can do but I'm really chuffed it's turned out so well. Something I really can't get my head around is weathering if done right it looks amazing but I don't think it's something I'll be able to do very well until I've done a lot more build tho. I'll hopefully get some pics up by the weekend.
  5. Had a eureka moment. Was watching a guy on TV remove a seat from a car and though hold up a sec. Removed the ejector seat with some wiggling. Drilled a small hole enough to put some staimless steel shaker balls in the. A dob of epoxy on each one and they've settled nicely into place. Will finish of the wing armaments now and make sure it's balanced well and hopefully she will sit correct. Thanks for all the pointers.
  6. yeah i've spoken to martin before and he did say he could sell them individually if required. might order the 3 main colours and see what it comes out like
  7. I'll try get you a photo but it's kinda purple in colour nothing like that photo you posted. AQnd from what i heard the akan paint set is the wrong colours for the su-33 (apparently) At £20 a set it's exspensive if they arent right, the mig 29 set i got with faded colour looked really good. Don't recall anyone on this forum using the akan set for the SU-33 tho(correct me if i'm wrong) cheers
  8. Anyone got a good colour match or mix for the su-33, i've got the dream model PE kit and i can't seem to get a very good match, driving me a bit cuckoo tonight lol. Any help would be great
  9. I see your point i'm just wonder what the size to weight ratio is of the liquid gravity as lead is pretty heavy so it might in effect take less space for more weight. i could always buy both not really an issue there and see which is better for the job. i suppose the smaller the hole in the nose cone i can get away with the better.
  10. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262531871197?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 would this be better?
  11. thanks for all the replies, i've already weighted the PB1500 centre tank as much as i dare but i still need 24 gram on the nose cone to be honest that liquid gravity looks great and thanks for pointing that out for me. looks like a great solution to my problem
  12. Devastated glued the the wheels on to finish it off waited for it to dry and boom fell straight on it's burners, school boy error, i really really do not want to take the nose cone off, anyone got any bright ideas? i thought maybe some 2mm lead pellets drill a small hole and drop them in with a drop of super glue on each but can't find anything anywhere. any help would be greatly appreciated Btw this is my third plane in 20 years so really don't have the confidence to take the nose cone off so please don't suggest it.
  13. If you like flying at mach 2 with the canopy open be my guest lol. I wanted it openable and closable as per the reviews I seen. Might have a solution. It involves some pliers, swearing and a disc sander
  14. Can't find anything online. It's just plain weird. Even if I'd have spotted it sooner there would have been no way to shorten the ejector seat or reposition the cockpit tub. Everything fits into its locating tabs nicely and the fuselage is flush with the tub just how it looks on all the reviews and wips I've seen. Just so annoyed and can't even do anything about it
  15. Well in all honesty I've never needed to dry fit a non glued canopy lid before as I've never had a single problem in all my years modeling. Completly fitted the tub ejector seat, and photo etch parts gone to close the lid and it hitting the headrest of the seat with 2mm left before fully closing.the tub was fully located and screwed into place and glued. The seat was fully glued in to the 4 locating pegs. Even looking at it all in place everything is in the right position. Am I being daft and this model was designed for lid up only or is there a chance I have a canopy from another mig 29 in the trump range? I'll try get a photo if I can later but it's pretty self explanatory.
